I tried 12 different AAA batteries and the unit would power on for a second then would die. I would not recommend this product.

I am giving this 5 stars because this actually really and seriously works when used in conjunction with my portal. Not just some toy, but a tool. The only downside of this spirit box is the speaker being on the back. If you hook this up to another portable speaker or portal, then it is beyond fantastic. Great sweeping choices and a bunch of other functions including temperature and a rem pole. If you get this, do yourself a favor and get or make a portal box to hook this up to. I use the Honey tone portal with reverb and noise gate. I have confirmed real responses to questions.
