Delish!
When you love Indian food, but don't have the time to cook it, Kitchens of India is a really great alternative. I have yet to be disappointed in one of their dishes and this one is no exception. The great thing about Indian food is that they are mostly sauce (or "gravy" as they say), so I will cook up some meat or steam up some veggies and add one of these packets to make a fabulous meal. Their really aren't much in the way of veggies in these packets, but that is typical in Indian food, no matter where it comes from. American's tend to use gravy or sauce as the secondary component while Indian's use it as the primary component and sop it up with lots of bread or rice. By steaming or sauteing some additional vittles, you can really stretch one of these packets. I like to add a packet of this to a pound of ground beef and simmer for a sort of "Indian Chili"...I know, blasphemy! but we love it.[...]

The other legume curry -- Rajma Masala and Pindi Chana are both between acceptable and good, the Pav Bhaji is acceptable -- but
One bite and it was on subscribe and Save!I bought th assorted six-pack from KOI. It was, overall, a mixed batch. The other legume curry -- Rajma Masala and Pindi Chana are both between acceptable and good, the Pav Bhaji is acceptable -- but not something I'd order a six-pack of -- and the Navratan Korma is wonderfully spiced, but the vegetables and even the cashews, are so overcooked as to be tasteless. (It did inspire me to consider trying to come up with my own version.)But the dal Bukhara is simply magnificent, the spicing -- which is powerful but not 'hot' -- works beautifully off the ingredients to make this a favorite. And yes, I've already received the first shipment of Subscribe and Save -- only one 6-pack every three months because I wanted to have room for other Indian foods without becoming swamped. One suggestion I'd make. Try this -- and most similar Indian foods -- on top of couscous -- particularly the Rice Select Brand of instant. The flavors work together, and there isn't the problem that some people have with rice.Definitely worth getting.(This review was by "Prup (aka Jim Benton)" even though it is under my wife's name.)

mild, pleasant flavor, pair with rice and/or naan for more substance. Leans soup like
Good flavor, very mild, a little soup like than what I expected. Not brothy, just a little thin. Tiny lentils dont add a lot of texture, hence my immediate thought that it needs something more. Needs something to go with it- rice, naan, something. More lentils?I know this is convenience food. Of course it isnt going to be the same as what can be attained from a restaurant or from ones kitchen. I wish I lived closer to Indian restaurants (and/or could afford meals out). I have on my bucket list to learn a couple of my favorite Indian dishes, but I know it wont come close. SO I try stuff like this, and keep a slew of options in my pantry. Can it give me that taste that I want, when I want it? Sorta. It's passible. I think it could be doctored up a bit. But even as is I like it. Ingredients are good, and I would buy this again (on sale).

Great meal. Easy prep.
I'd never tried stuff like this before I got married. My wife wants something to eat that is easy to make while she's at work. She told me she'd had, what she calls, "boil-in-the-bag-meals" before and wanted to have them at work. Looking on Amazon, there are several choices. This particular choice is made by a team of chefs at a hotel in India. This meal is definately worth trying if you enjoy Indian cuisine. I became a fan immediately when I tried, Kitchens of India Dal Bukhara. It's easy to make too. Just re-heat whatever way works best for you.

Delicious
Excellent product; a delicious, quick, and healthful meal when accompanied by brown rice. I wish they'd reduce the packaging a bit for the bulk orders (no need to have the cardboard around every individual packet), though on backpacking trips it serves as nice fire starter! Roll the lentils in a tortilla and you have an ideal camping meal that requires no refrigeration.

Delicious and very flavorful
Full of flavor with the right amount of spice. 1 minute in the microwave and you have an amazing side dish or add protein or veg of your choice for a wholesome, healthy meal. Great value compared to supermarket prices. Highly recommend

Hot but good.
We liked it. It was just a tad hotter than we anticipated. But it was quite good.

Terrible
When I read the reviews for this product before buying it I found that peopleeither loved or hated it . I took one bite and decided I REALLY disliked it.There was a strong chemical taste that stayed in my mouth for hours, the lentilswere very few and far between. I would not recommend this product butI will share the packages that remain to see if others agree with my opinion.
