Only when u pull them out of there little black case and put them in your ears the detecte the blue tooth but you have to make sure that both ear buds are turned on and then you can fine it in the bluetooth connection and how to turn them off press them to your ear until they say turned off or place them back in the case and they will automatically turn on and off pulled out or put in there own case they came with
