I can’t tell you how relieved I am for this trash can to have worked out! I had to return two others before this and I’m still so in love with it! We needed a 13 gallon step trash can. I wanted pretty much any color but white and it didn’t *have* to be stainless, though I quickly discovered there aren’t many “nice” looking plastic ones. We were replacing a simplehuman plastic step can because the step broke. I considered trying the new motion sensor cans but in the end wasn’t confident enough in the longevity of them (and/or didn’t want to spend a fortune). The first trash can we tried was the simplehuman 50 Liter / 13.2 Gallon Kitchen Step Garbage Can, Brushed Stainless Steel. It was nice, but it made us realize we need a flat top for putting things down like my husband’s work cooler when filling/emptying it. Aside from that we got a defective one - the lid wouldn’t close completely and therefore odors escaped. The next can we tried was the Glad GLD-74506 Stainless Steel Step Trash Can with Clorox Odor Protection. This had what looked like a flat plastic lid; it was plastic… but not completely flat. I also should’ve double checked the dimensions - it was shocking how short it was. lol We still gave it a shot…but after two weeks the lid stopped closing. Then I found this one. I was slightly hesitant to purchase it since some people complained about damage but I was so sick of researching trash cans by that point it was worth a shot! Our small rubber pad under the step came off somewhat immediately as well, but I’m okay with gluing that. It’s been working wonderfully and looks amazing. I ended up putting a small piece of decorative shelf liner on top to protect the stainless from scratches from hub’s cooler etc. It closes quietly and completely, keeping all odors where they should be. Removing the inner liner to replace the trash bags is simple and easy. Our regular 13gal. trash bags fit perfectly, and despite not having excess to put in the hole provided the bag stays put and hidden. Overall this trash can was worth every penny! I hope it holds up for years to come but I’ll be sure to update if it doesn’t!

Yeah, it’s pricey, but everyone that see’s it can’t believe how much better it is than theirs. Some have already thrown their trash can out. Our still works fantastic and it doesn't bang the wall when you step on pedal. Bags fit and hold well. Plus, it looks great and it a garbage can. Lol

This is a very nice can. Looks and function are great. Pricey in comparison to others but it is a Kohler product so I know if there is ever a problem, it will be addressed. I assumed 13 gallon tall trash bags would fit well and was glad to know that they do. All in all, just what I wanted.

After wasting money on three different automated models that seem to confound our nannies, I finally decided to just get a manual version. The nannies were trying to open the automated ones by pulling them up, which would cause them not to close all the way and also strip out gears. They simply could not figure out the whole 'wave you hand over the sensor thing' (scary since they were helping with our kids the first couple of years). Well, the nannies are gone, but our toddlers were touching the automated ones too much, so I decided to go for something a little more obvious. I bought a manual version and chose the Kohler based on so many good reviews. I am glad I did. It's not falling apart like the display models of various brands in the stores. Pros - Obvious and easy to use - Sturdy foot pedal design that isn't likely to break, and it's wider than many - Closes very gently - Easy to clean - Easy to change bags (take out inner shell, remove bag, put in new bag, place inner shell bag into can) - Bags are hidden from view - Bags always stay in place (unlike those metal bar versions where the bag pulls out from under them) CONS - Really none. The up front price is steep, but considering I had spent over a $100 three straight years for cheaply designed automated ones, I am really pleased with this one after 6 months.

You may have to return one or two before you get an undented one. The first one had dents in 3 corners. No damage to the box though, so someone took a returned item and tried to push it off on me. The second one, a replacement, was much better, although I noticed a small dent in one corner at the bottom, but it was much less noticeable, and I was tired of returning trash cans. Again, no damage to the box, so someone probably had returned that one too, but they succeeded because I went ahead and kept it. Aside from the dent, the finish is very nice and the color (black stainless) does match the appliances pretty well. Dinged 1 star for the ding in the lower corner of the replacement trash can.

I love this trash can that I have been eyeing for several months. It is expensive but worth the decorative touch in the kitchen. It is made of white aluminum so it’s easy to clean and is very wide to accommodate enough garbage.

Es un excelente bote de basura, el color acero es muy elegante. Para empezar, no necesita bolsas especiales, usa bolsas de basura tamaño grande de cualquier marca, el borde superior ayuda a que no se safe la bolsa y el cambio de bolsa es muy fácil. El contenedor interno es super práctico si se derraman líquidos, ya que lo puedes sacar facilmente y lavarlo. El sistema de pedal funciona perfectamente y permite poner el bote pegado a la pared sin impedir su funcionamiento. Lo único que le falta es un sistema para disminuir los olores, pero ese lo puede agregar uno por su parte, para mi es una excelente compra.

Very happy with my purchase as I couldn’t find anything like it in the shops. Although expensive, it’s good quality. Just need to ensure we dont break the lid because once that happens there’s no fixing the pedal and lid mechanism.

Great can, but very expensive. However, they back their product. I had one break after 3 years, but they have a 10 years warranty. I called and they had it replaced to fuss at all. Great experience and great product.
