What is the size of this overnight pad (45count pkg)

The pad is 14 inches long.  I wear this length all the time.  when I transfer from my wheel chair I must lean slightly forward and in other pads  it would leak from the back  At night the extra length prevents leakage

What is the difference between the "old" and the "new" overnight pads shown on Amazon?? (Big price difference so there has to be a reason!)

Exact same pad, packaging qty different.  Both options are “6 Extra Heavy Long”.  Either of the 2 pkg options sold here are a great value - so long as you stick with this vendor listing.  Unfortunately, I once paid an expensive lesson by not paying attention... a DIFFERENT seller lists this same product but image & description shows “Overnight” ... they charged 2x as much for this item. 
56 pads for $45! (2 pks of 28) 
I was willing to pay more for a bigger overnight  pad for my mom so, yeah, lesson learned. 
I’ve bought from this seller many times and very happy with the value and this product.  This is only pad my mother can wear and can confirm that these pads will hold A LOT but a heavy sleeper with no bladder control who takes a big glass of water to drink in bed will probably spring a leak by morning.

Why can’t manufacturers give a definitive length on their products – always infographic show regular and long being the same for same absorbency

Since i do not work for a manufacturer i would be presumptuous in any answer i might have. Personally i just usually buy the product in the size i need and hope it works if it doesn't i just keep shopping until i find what works for me. This particular item i believe to be a good and maybe great product but for the volume of absorbency needed by me this articular product does not fit the bill. Hope this is somewhat helpful.
