Lesche Sampson Pro-Series Shovel with T-Handle for Metal Detecting and Gardening

I have used this for metal detecting and to dig small holes for pipes and posts at a disc golf course. I was a little surprised how easily the paint has chipped off and how much surface rust there is. I'm pretty old and nobody would consider me very strong anymore, but I managed to bend the part where the blade and handle connect pretty easily. It has since bent mostly back to straight through continued use, but I have had to seriously downgrade my expectations as far as what this little shovel can handle and for the price, that's a pretty big disappointment.

I just recently started metal detecting and the first few days I was only using a handheld tool to dig up plugs. I've seen many videos that show a shovel similar to this one and how it was used. It just came today and I decided to go try it out in the front lawn. I live in South Central Wisconsin so the ground is not too Rocky. I can tell you this from go this was day and night from using a hand-held shovel. There is no way I could have kept going without this tool. It is built very well, the welds and the shovel blade itself are outstanding and I would recommend this to anyone! I am 6 foot 1 and the shovel height itself is perfect. I think it would work for anybody my height or below. It also acts as a great crutch after you trying to get back off the ground after the hundredth hole you've dug.

I had a professional plumber tell me today it was the finest shovel of it's type he has ever seen with such high quality steel and welds and I agree I very much love this shovel. However I have some suggestions that would improve the shovel for me. #1 Make it about 6" longer so it becomes more like a walking stick when I have the metal detector in the other hand instead of stooping or having to carry it. #2 I used some bicycle bar wrap to make a comfortable grip for the t-handle,problem solved but a nice grip would be an improvement. #3 In the picture the blade appears to be a golden or bronze color that I really like and was a determining factor in buying this model but it is actually grey just like the shaft and handle. Other than that this little spade is awesome.

This shovel was alittle smaller then I imagined, but for my purposes (metal detecting) it’s perfect, lightweight yet super strong, cuts right threw anything I’ve tried so far. Great product, alittle pricey, but overal I would recommend

Very nice, cuts a nice plug 6" deep in record time. Very light, I put a strap through the hollow handle to carry on my shoulder.Only used it a few times as it still technically winter here, but very impressed so far.Only thing that takes some getting used to is, say you don't get the target on the first dig and need to dig some more. You sure can, but the shovel won't fit through the hole you just dug and you have to tilt it causing some of the dirt to slide out.May be that I can adjust my digging method/angle or whatever to get around this complication - In any case, I carry a secondary digging tool, a 5 in 1 painting tool, to dig targets after the 1st scoop.No way would an ordinary $15 shovel get results like this, plus you'd be digging craters instead of nice neat plugs. This thing is meant to do a certain job and it does it very well.

Awesome for metal detecting. I purchased the Root Assassin several months ago but it cuts such a large swath that it's difficult to dig small plugs without destroying someone's yard. This shovel makes nice, neat and small cuts. Great if you're not digging to China or the ground is not cluttered with roots. Lightweight and easy to drag around with you unlike the bigger shovels and a lot easier to store. A must have.

The shovel is very strong and surprisingly light however the edge where put your foot to push the shovel into the soil is small so if you're trying to dig and hard soil it is a little difficult to use but if you're digging soft soil or grass, this is a great little shovel.Update
