Very messy to use

I had a bag and some clothes that were very damaged/stained-looking, so I decided to try dying them to cover those up. I am very happy with how they turned out, since the dye completely covered the stains and gave my clothes new life. However, I was really hoping for a true brown color, and most of the items ended up a brick red/ maroon color. I experimented with a few different materials and decided to toss in even my synthetic polyester short and sweater, and it still mostly worked, but created a burnt orange color. However, even the pure cotton button-up shirt ended up decidedly maroon/red. The white skirt was only soaked for under 10 minutes and ended up pink, but I actually like the color. The other items were all soaked for longer than 30 minutes but still didn’t end up brown. I was most hoping for the bag to be a more neutral brown. I would recommend not using quite ans much ans the recommended dye amount unless you’re picky about the exact shade- I reused the same bucket after dipping one item and the others were all still dyed even though they were past the 1 pound of clothes to 1/2 cup dye recommended dosage amount. Overall, though, I would highly recommend this product for effectively changing the color of your items. Would not recommend if you need a specific color or color match or had an idea in mind requiring the brown.
