Works good - but you may have to turn on manually sometimes
I bought three for my large master bedroom. One for each side of the bed behind the nightstands and one across the room on the facing wall. I have them all on 5 or 6 volume level with the one closest to where I sleep at slightly lower volume. Each one has not come on at the set time at least once, but comes on with no problem when I turn the volume up. I can still feel the vibration of the traffic/trains that are a few miles away and I can still hear some noise, but there is a noticeable improvement. Just a side note - I have superhuman senses...particularly hearing...I could hear a pin drop in the next room :(.

Very buggy hardware and software
I read all the Amazon and Google Play reviews. Despite that I decided to risk a bad experience and bought 2 sets of these. I contacted their technical support, but their most basic feature of resetting the Nightingale device failed to work according to instructions. Based on the number of problems I was having (e.g. as shown below), I don't think any amount of time with tech support would fix it --- it's inherently very buggy hardware and/or software. What I had: -v1.8 of their app for Android. -Android 8.0.0 (Oreo). I had the previous major version but still had the same issues. Problems I had: -I have to restart my phone every time I want to change the Nightingale device settings (e.g. lights, volume, balance). The settings would randomly change after restarting the phone. -The settings would change on their own -- from volume, balance, scheduling, to light colors. The balance would be reset and/or the device numbers would shuffle, causing confusion as to which device is which. Keep the devices the same numbers in the same order in the loudness settings for each. -Devices would randomly light up on random occasions. -The resetting instructions you gave worked inconsistently across the devices -- the last straw and reason for my return. The baseline reset feature doesn't work consistently, which is very unfortunate. -Some devices would randomly not start at the scheduled times. One or two would be on, but the 3rd or 4th would not be on. -My scheduled time would reset to 10pm - 6am nearly every day. I have to reset it to 10pm-9am daily, but sometimes it'll reset to 6am during the night or turn off entirely (and would turn off the scheduled times). -Even with scheduled times, sometimes one device would stay on past the scheduled time. -The delay between when I press buttons on my phone and when it applies the change can vary in response times from 5-10 seconds. I'll wait 1-3 years before trying this device again. The marketing of this product is done well and implies a premium customer experience, but the product really doesn't live up to that. No amount of slick marketing or apologies can help this product right now -- they need to fix it or it will fail.

Wow does this sound BAD! It does not have the low frequencies needed to be comforting at night or drown out the traffic noise. I was using a Bose Mini and the APP White Noise when I traveled. I got these after doing research on their installed Commerical products. I was going to use them at home and on the road. I was disappointed to find out if I set it up Bluetooth (on the road I would have to use this) I could not set it up WiFi at home thus my phone could not leave the bedroom at night. Sometime I want to take my phone out of my room at night and not wake up my wife. This cannot be done. Full disclosed I am in this business and was pretty impressed with this design and this as a solution. If they come out with a version with more low end Ill give it a try. For now I am going to try putting something in front of them to act as a high pass filter like a pillow or a washcloth.

Overall great quality and easy to use with great features
Overall great quality and easy to use with great features, I would give it 4 1/2 stars if Amazon would let me as it's not perfect but is better than 4 stars. The Nightingale Sleep System is an expensive white noise system but I have found the quality of the sounds and the system itself to be superior to other systems I have used in the past. It is nice that it can be set to run at specific times or turned on and off manually. Adjustments to the volume or sounds played are quick and easy. I have found that once set up the system is easy to use. I am also looking forward to the ease of taking it with me on business trips as I think it will be particularly useful when staying in a louder setting than my home. I found the set up to be fairly straightforward. I agree with other reviews that it could be more simple but I put it on par with setting up other smart home apps, for example the Hue lights I have connected to my Echo. The one frustration I had with the setup was that the app kept disconnecting and reconnecting to the devices and my wifi, I ended up moving the devices to the room with the wifi router, setting everything up and then moving the devices back to the bedroom. Since the devices are so portable this wasn't a problem and is similar to steps I have had to take with other smart home devices. The loaded sounds (lakeshore, crickets, loons, whale songs, and rainstorm) are nice quality and actually sound like what they are labeled - I have found this not to be true with all sound machines. For the price I would like some additional variety in the sounds so I hope there are plans to add more options later.

Great concept, poor execution
I had very high hopes for such an innovative product. I quickly became disappointed during the setup process with the buggy app. Once configured to my network, I attempted to scroll through sound scenes for the proper setting in my bedroom. If anyone remembers listening to a transistor radio, you will understand the quality of these sounds. I get the fact that "white noise" is essentially static that occurs on the old radios. Have been using a "white noise" app on my tablet to Bluetooth the sounds through Alexa speaker. There is no comparison between the output sounds on the $300 Nightingale and Alexa, she wins hands down. Being able to plug these units on opposite sides of your bed is great to lower the volume and be covered no matter your sleep position. Problem is, during the night the sounds decided to change at random. I'm assuming a loss of connectivity to the network caused it but a 2:30 AM, I wasn't about to investigate. I might have been convinced to stick with Nightingale if the Made in China price was closer to $100.

I love the automatic turn on/off from your phone
I purchased to help assist with 5 year old twins bedtime routine. Since we purchased this sound system it has helped reduce our routine by more than half; the 2 night lights and the white noise has helped my boys settle down much quicker. I love the automatic turn on/off from your phone, ability to schedule when you want to the white noise to start/end and the fact I donโt lose outlet space. โ

waste of money
Returned immediately, waste of money. These "sound blankets" are varying volumes of noise. They don't cover up road noise. Just create chaos. My whale, rain sounds didn't work either. The Alexa Echo was $30 (black friday deal) and does a way better job. I've been eyeballing this product for years. This was extremely disappointing.

Recommended sleep aid
As a lifelong tossing-turning, noise-sensitive sleeper, I have been surprised and delighted with the difference this product has made in the quality of my sleep. I wake up less often, and sleep deeper than before. The selection of sound options is nice (maybe future enhancements will allow you to add your own), the app is straight-forward and easy to use. I prefer to utilize the setting for automatic on at night and automatic off in the morning. Times can be easily chosen. There is some trial-and-error as you get accustomed to the necessary volume level and which noise blanket works best for you, so don't give up on it after only one night, it really does work once you find the right combination. I purchased first on Kickstarter and this is our second set now purchased through Amazon.
