Does the HI701 come with reagent?

Yes, but not very many pillows. The pillows are also over sized and less convenient to use then Hach. The Hach reagent works with this unit just make sure it's the 10ml pillows.

Do you have to calibrate it before every single use or does one calibaration lasts a while ?

You can buy a calibration kit for this. It's cheap. It has a clear vial and a pink vial that should read 1.00 and I check it every few months to make sure its still close. Same steps as a normal residual check The steps for every time you check the chlorine residual include a 'calibration' to the clear water before adding the packet. Step one turn it on, shows C-1 Step two fill the vial with water and put it in and press the button Step three, after it says C-2, take the vial out and add the packet. Step four put it back it after a shake and press the button. Done.
