LUNAR TIDES Magic Shadow Hair Color | Semi-Permanent Vegan Hair Dye (4oz)

I’ve used this brand a few times (all in shades of blue) and I really like it. The blue lasts FOREVER (I’m talking 6+ weeks) and doesn’t fade as badly as other blues I’ve used. It does wash out in the shower for a LONG time. And I mean excessive color running, but it doesn’t seem to pull that color out of my hair, so 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’ll certainly continue to use this brand.

I absolutely am in love with this color and dye. I've used other vegan dyes and have experience some scalp irritation but haven't with this. The color is super rich and pigmented. It helped cover the horrible red dye I had. Will be repurchasing.

Didn't like:* stains everything. Bathtub, pillow, towel, shirt, sink, my hair.* The color by itself. Alone, without conditioner or diluter, it looks harsh. Like it's TOO pigmented, in a flat way. If you mix it with conditioner and put it in damp or wet hair, it looks better, it has more shiny color and less flatness.It lasts a good while, because of how it stains. I tried shampooing it to lighten it up a bit because of how harsh and flat the color came out to, like 6 times and it barely faded. So if that's what you want then this would be the right product for you. But if you color your hair fun colors, you most likely change it every like 3-5 months and colors that stain make it very difficult to go to another color after.

The color when it's fresh is deep black with barely a hint of blue highlight in direct sun, but when it's washed out some it's that beautiful deep navy I wanted and that shade sticks around for a long time before lightening up more. I don't know if it's because my skin and hair gets oily fast but every time I wash it bleeds dark blue, even a month later. With some precautions I don't have to scrub the tub every time I shower, but if you're not careful it'll stain everything.

My hair is brown, I know. But I’ve used manic panic plenty of times before and it’ll tint at the very LEAST! I’ve tried lunar tides before back in 2021-2022 and it screwed up my curl pattern! This time it really nuked my hair and my hair usually is incredibly soft and I just got a trim so there’s no way someone could say it’s dead or split ends. I don’t use heat or dye my hair often. I thought to try it after seeing a tiktok of someone with similar colored hair and dyed it with LT without bleach and got a tint especially on the sun…I guess not I should’ve known better. It screwed me over once and now it’s screwed me over twice. Now my hair is damaged and dry where I applied it.
