Fits 2008 Prius - Way Easy to install - You’ll need a Small, thin, Standard Screwdriver + Broom handle and a Pair of Sissers. ~ 10 minute install - including putting away your tools and washing up - Video included :) First compare these to your installed originals before you cut the plastic straps that release each os the pressurized pistons! For our 2008 Prius - they fairly closely matched the length and girth of the larger (lower) piston width and length - and the coupling mechanism on both ends was exactly the same - using a single bridge holding clip. So we ahead with the install. Even if your current pistons hod the door up fairly well - to do this work you will want to be sure to prop the hatch door open - with a broom handle or something that holds it up so the door doesn’t start to come down as you work - or remove one of the pistons. Without saying - it’s safest to remove and replace each side - one at a time - as the hatch door has a surprising amount of down leverage due to its weight and how far out it swings. The short video shows after installing the right new hatch lift piston - the basics of the easy removal and install. Sorry its a rough cut video - but you’ll probably will get the drift of it. These replacement lift struts make all the difference in the world. Will they last as long as the originals? Maybe - but at this price point a fix for less than a tank of gas - we’re all good here.

Easy installation and now I do t get a headache every time I open the hood....and 5 seconds later it falls on my head. Problem fixed

The trunk door on my car started sagging to the point where Id bonk my head because the old shocks were giving out (Im 6'1" so im tall). I ordered these to replace them. The install was a pain, but the plastic tip on the edge of the new shock snapped off when I installed it so I had to use the old plastic piece from the old shock (it twists off) not a big deal just frustrating. Other than that it works super great, it lifts the trunk door up to the max and now I don't hit my head. Its harder to close now because they are stiff but thats obviously expected. Super happy, hope these will last another 10 years!

Ordered this product and it was delivered on 9/12/25. I installed them on the same day. Today (9/20/25), exactly 8 days later (while I was driving) I heard a loud bang sound, like metal on metal. I immediately pulled over to see what happened after hearing it, and as I pulled up the rear hatch, I heard some grinding and realized the right side failed and was broken The strut had pushed up the side toward the roof, and it was pushing on the upper part of the hatch frame and damaging my paint. Left side looks like it's going to fail also. (See All Pictures, Attached) Before I installed the pair, I thought something was weird. I noticed that the left and right were labeled, but the attach points that go on the hatch door frame (not the hatch door side) were not the same as the original parts. The angled bend was on the ououter side, and on the original part the angled bend was on the inner side. Check the pictures and compare to your Subaru. I thought it was odd, but after installing them the door closed properly, so I figured they were good and didnt think anything about it after that. Apparently I was wrong, and the pressure on the pin that holds the strut on the hinge point failed, and now I have damage on my car from the failure. If I could rate this a BIG FAT ZERO, I would. I am asking Amazon for a full refund and ordering another brand that actually fits the proper way. I would definitely NOT recommend this product. These struts are absolutely trash, and I doubt they will be covering the damage to the paint on my car.

This doesn't fit a nissan pathfinder armada. Do not buy, like someone else mentioned....there needs to be a slight angle at the bottom connection like the one being replaced, they just pop off when you close the hood

Hood struts were simple to install and I completed the change over in 15 minutes (including 5 minutes for YouTube instruction review). Only needed a flat head screwdriver for the retaining clips.
