THis is a follow up?
THe original "The Strike" was one of my top rated Wii fishing games. After getting used to the way it works it was fun and enjoyable. My only real complaint with the original was that it was too short. I was able to buzz thru it in a couple of weeks (playing a couple hours a day). I ordered this game cause I wanted MORE. Boy was I let down. This game is not nearly as good as the original. The stuff that really worked well in the original are all but gone. The graphics are a HUGE step backwards (unless you like all your fish to look like overstuffed coach potatos). THe few improvments (radio stations on the boat, a GPS with waypoints, and the ability to have the fishfinder and gps mini map going at the same time) don't even come CLOSE to making up for what was lost (challanging and rewarding mini games, line tension graph when fighting the fish, the ability to still drive the boat when the large GPS map was called up, the fish proximity indicater when scouting, a drag that was adjustable on the fly, the fish stamina indicator, interesting and informational load screen facts, a casting meter indicator, different types of casts, and fish that looked, well like fish). Yea this game is a let down (especially as a followup). You basically play the same lakes (plus 2 bonus lakes) in reverse. There is no "reputation" points to be earned, and no matter how carefully you scout, the fish are not there for the tournemant (but do reappear in later tournements) Basically your not going to win the tournament your fist time out (it takes me to the 3rd tournement each time). I have found a few gliches where fish, lures, screen shots, or boats hang up and if your participating in NPC challanges you can basically win just by having a livewell full of fish before the challange even starts (oh and occasionally I win a challange that I never even was aware I was part of- a nice bonus but again a bit buggy). THe bottom tournament ticker is a waste of time and a distraction (don't worry YOUR name will never appear on the ticker- but you will know when dale trickle catches a 0.9 Lb smallmouth. uggh what a waste of resources). The grizzled old "tour guide" that you get when starting out in amatuer mode is a bit of comic relief (especially if you have been listening to non country music and suddenly turn it on for him!). He offers such worthless advise- and I wish there was a way to toss him overboard (thankfully he doen't ride with you on a tournament- but will make comments on some of the fish you catch). Load times are still painfully long (like the original) and the controls are similiar enough. One other gripe is that the Motion Plus option really screws things up (as another reviewer said "do they even test these things out before hand?"). Turn off the motion plus option and the controls are much more stable. Heres the real kicker. If Bas Pro SHops putsa out another version- I will have to really think twice before getting it- this one was an embarassment and I hope BPS really thinks twice before putting their name on something so disappionting (to be fair the original game was great and I did get this one used so I don't feel totally ripped off).

When you can't go out to fish, do it on the Wii inside!
Takes awhile to get the casting down but not that long. So much fun if you like fishing totally!!!

Bass Pro Shop - The Strike
The original Strike is fun and I had played it several times and was glad when Bass Pro Shop put out a different version of this game. You have many of the same lakes, but the play is different. if you liked the first version The Strike you will like this one. This game is a little more challenging and is as much fun as the original. GLS

Fun once you get past defects
This is the most buggy wii game we own. Every so often the nunchuck control stops working so we cannot steer the boat or aim to cast using the nunchuck. We put in anther game and the nunchuck worked fine. The only way we found to get around it was to create a new profile and start over then it happens again eventually. So we have all these profiles we made progress on that don't work anymore. Then we did well in a tournament, unlocked the second lake in about the 5th profile we had to create and the game did not save our progress for that profile. So we can't get off the first lake.Did not find any helpful advice online, including manufacturer's support page. Sent an email to customer support but we haven't heard back from them yet.Update Mar 19, 2012 - Found a work around for the nunchuck issue.I found a 'walkthrough' of the the first edition of this game and apparently they had 2 control configurations (A&B.) In control configuration B the nunchuck control stick doesn't do anything. Presumably this is because when the nunchuck is in the fishing rod accessory, steering with the control stick is not intuitive. (You have to push the stick left to go forward.) According to this walkthrough the user could select the desired contol configuration in the options menu. But for this (second) tournament edition that selection is no longer in the options menu. However, we found that if we turn the control stick reeling and wii motion plus off and on again we could get the nunchuck steering stick to start working again. We love playing the game.
