Not as vibrant as expected but left hair soft, shiny, and healthy with a nice tint
First attempt ever trying to dye my hair on my own. Overall, pretty good experience! Usually I get it done in a salon and usually get balayage / highlights but I wanted to try out and see how I liked lilac purple with a semi permanent temporary tint before committing to paying hundreds of dollars for it. I definitely could’ve left it on a bit longer, but I wanted to play on the safe side. Still, I was thinking it would’ve turned out a bit more vibrant but you can still pretty clearly see the light purple stands where I had bright blonde highlights. It didn't affect my natural/virgin hair as much, just kind of acted like a cool toner. I sprayed my hair with a bit of water to help blend it in even though it said to apply to dry hair, so maybe that made a different in how much pigment my hair actually absorbed. Not sure how long it will last, but it was pretty easy and wasn’t too messy of an experience. It smells minty like others have mentioned, and made my hair really soft and shiny. Love that it’s cruelty free and gentle ingredients. I used about half the whole jar and will likely use the rest to touch it up.

Expensive and didn't work
First of all, I think its great that this product does not have some of the harsh chemicals and other really bad ingredients that your typical off-the-shelf hair color products would have. However, after applying liberally to my wife's hair, and letting it sit the recommended amount of time, thus product didn't deposit any color in her hair. It pretty much washed right out. The natural warm tones in her hair are covered by a light, ashy grey color. So it's as if it didn't actually color her hair, and instead muted the natural tones. Her hair is a dark blonde to light brown color, so maybe anymore with her hair color needs to let the product stay in for 30-40 minutes before rinsing instead. Too expensive to try again and upkeep even if it does work.

Lilac Lotus on darker hair... meh.
I have no problem with the Overtone products, they're a great gentle way to play with color in your hair... but don't expect much unless you have really light or bleached hair. I have light brown/dark blonde hair with some bleached highlights. I used the Lilac Lotus, hoping to turn the highlighted pieces light purple, and maybe tint the grey hairs I have. I put it on clean dry hair, left it for 30-35 mins, then rinsed it out in warm water. It did nothing, lol. I frequently use the purple Olaplex products to just to tone the brassy colors out of my hair, it basically worked like that. The bleached bits are not purple, and overall the color is just toned down. No shade to the product, it wasn't advertised to work on darker hair. I think it did tone down my hair better that the olaplex products, but I've also never put that purple conditioner on dry hair and left it for 30 mins, so 🤷♀️ who knows. I also wouldn't say this was moisturizing like a good deep conditioner, my hair wasn't notably softer after, it worked more like a regular conditioner. I may try some of the other darker, more pigmented colors in the future.

Not the described color
Smells like hair dye, unexpected for a hair mask compared to other brands I’ve used! Bought the purple lilac and it turned my hair an icey blue despite following all instructions. Not purple at all
