Sports Illustrated The Covers

A life in The Covers
I have subscribed to SI since 1980, so I believe that means that I've received over half of the covers in the mail. However, it has been a long time since I collected issues and covers so when I read the introductions by decade and looked back at the covers, it was a revelation. It is interesting to note the evolution of the covers as well. In the early '50's, the covers were much more diverse, for one thing. Now, the mainstream sports garner the most attention. But seeing the older issues made me want to Google who these people were and why they were deemed worthy of the six week or so wait that they had to have then before the issues went to press. If you like sports, you will like this book for innumerable reasons. If you like SI, you will love this book.

Worth adding to your collection!
Every cover from the beginning is shown. A great look inside the birth of an American icon. The book will take you from the early editorial decisions, to amazing cross references of most cover appearances, which sports appear the covers, etc. If you want to relive the amazing athletes and events from 1954 to the present---buy this book!

Cool book!
This is a great book for the price! The Sports Illustrated books never disappoint. If you're purchasing a used book, this is definitely a great vendor.

Yet another Fantastic book!
Being from the UK American sports had passed me by until my son moved to Charlotte, I now have an insatiable appetite for American sports photography and this book is a cracking addition to my library.

Great for a Gift
This is a nice tableside book. Makes a great gift for anyone into sports. Some interesting reading but is mostly just mag covers...no suprise given the title of the book!
