I was re-tiling two walk-in showers and took a chance on buying these. First: you MUST be re-doing the floor of your shower (including ripping out the concrete beneath the tile, and re-grading the slope) if you want to install these. This will NOT work if you are just replacing tile or trying to replace the drain. It needs an entirely new slope and MUST be plumbed down below the tile line. Next, the drainage system is AWESOME. My tile guy was impressed as there are secondary catch drains beneath the top. It catches hair and has a basket to pull out (amazing for me, as I have LONG hair). The manufacturer also provides a hook to lift the plate. This is incredibly well thought out. I LOVE that I’m seeing my tile, and not an ugly grate when I look at my newly tiled shower. HIGHLY recommend.

If you are unsure of your tile installers ability to do this go with a simple mosaic with rectified edges Suches 2” x 2” squares or 1” x 1” squares, rectangles, etc. This pattern was very tricky but of course our tile guy is amazing!
