Dragons: A Natural History

The Book was not as in-depth as I anticipated. However it WAS an excellent overview of Dragons in mythology. The breakdown of Categories was an interesting take on the evolution of the dragon however I found that some these animals were hardly ever a type of Dragon such as the Hydra, but I think this is more an issue with "What is a Dragon?" Dr. Shuker did not define what a dragon would need trait-wise in order to be a dragon. Something I was hopeful for. But nevertheless still a good read if you want see Dragons (and a few "Dragonoids" I suppose) then this is the book for you and I'm certain you'll enjoy it.

This book I was very pleased with. The one I received was actually a library book from somewhere else. That didn't bother me at all. This book is detailed and the illustrations are good. It provides a little something extra. Tells you old tales from history and gives you an idea of what people thought back then. And gives you an idea of how much dragons have "evolved" from time. I love this book. It came a little later than I expected but it was worth the wait

I bought this for my 9 year old daughter who is obsessed with dragon art and folklore. She is a pretty advanced reader, so it may not be for every 9 year old, but we were both very happy with the book.

I can't even tell you how much I love this book! I did a research project on dragons for my World Mythologies class, and this book was an invaluable source of information.

I just wanted pictures of dragons but this book has SO MUCH MORE. Very interesting information and the pictures ARE amazing. Am enjoying reading it and admiring the pictures.

DELIGHTFUL book, one to share with the grandkids!

I enjoy the book itself, however I wasn't expecting it to be a previous library copy with the plastic covering and stickers in it. That was a little off-putting to me but the book wasn't in horrible condition.

good stories

I cannot believe how few real dragon books there actually are out there, how there’s not one continuously in print and on prime etc. And they’re notoriously difficult to find in bookshops, the most prominent always being Dragonology in the children’s section. This is the greatest one I’ve found thus far, an exhaustive scholarly exploration of all the dragon myths around the world with beautiful illustrations and photos. Couldn’t recommend enough.

Hands-down the best "non-fiction" book about dragons out there.
