Galliano - 4 track EP : two slow / two dance remixes :good overall
now Galliano they were a fine outfit.. back in the 1990 s they started out as a semi-crusty,multi ethnic and funky, jazzy n soulful troupe who got my attention on the Tv one friday night on The Tube (remember that ?) with a great live version of Skunk Funk from their 2nd Lp. anyway ..this single cd the CD2 of the release is well worth buying for the two excellent uptempo dancew remixes (yes really you funk skank fans) here by Peshay on freefall (it keeps the soulful vocal adding a whole other dimension to the original track and a prett good solid house remix by ashley beedle. the first two tracks by Galliano in their pure versions are pretty pedestrian soulful slow tracks with a jazzy vocal and feel only ok.you really will love the Peshay (soulful d n b / broken beat producer par excellence in the 90's) remix here of "freefall" is 7 minutes of what an intelligent and soulful remixer can do with fairly basic original material. the ashley beedle deep-ish house remix of "thunderhead" is also atmospheric with a pulsating throb . very good also.
