He sat down in the middle of the room to immediately dive in and didnt move (except for page turning) for a solid hour or so (however long it took him to read all 3 back to back). Then he took them to his room to read them again and bookmark his favorite pages. Id say the story is a little advanced for a 6 year old (I havent read every page of every book, but nothing seems inappropriate, and I like that both boys and girls are positive main characters). The artwork and action are great and keep his interest soooo well. He has no trouble reading them on his own and he loves them. Keeps 6 year old boy extremely interested
My 6 year old loves these Hilo books. He had book 4 already and read it over and over and over and over. Finally got him this book 1-3 set and he was so happy to open it. I love this series
This is a GREAT series. The characters are fabulous and the story is interesting. As a parent and a teacher, I am always looking for books that will engage my children and my students. I try to read all of the books before putting them onto my shelf so that I can have conversations with my students about the books. Most of my students had not heard about this series prior to me bringing them into my classroom. Now they are hooked. This is a great series for reluctant readers. I definitely recommend these books. This boxed set is well made and will last a long time with multiple readers.

Great graphics with action and adventure
Our sons are 6 & 7 and have very different interests, but both got caught up in this series over the summer. Our 6yr old is a strong reader, but doesn't enjoy it. That is, until these books came along. It started with Book 4 at the library, and then I surprised the kids with the series for a road trip. The graphics are great and the action-adventure held their interest. I had the kids read to me a few times and enjoyed the characters' spunk.

Great gift
I bought this set and the other two Hilo volumes for my grandson's 7th birthday. He loves graphic novels and super heroes, so I chose Hilo. He is fascinated! He immediately started reading and finished the first volume by the end of the first day. These books are interesting, well illustrated and perfect for my grandson.

Great reads!
We gave this set to my 7 year old (1st grader) for his birthday and once he picked them up he couldn’t put them down! We ended up getting books 4-7 pretty quickly and wish I would have bought the larger boxed set to start. He was reading about 2 per week and telling me all about what he’d read in between.

Great books for 8 year old son.
My son loves the books. He is a big fan of Dogman and Captain Underpants, but treasures these books even more. He loves the stories and the illustrations are top notch. Hopefully the series continues for a long time so I can continue to have gifts to give to my son that he is guaranteed to enjoy.

Fun Series for Dav Pilkey fans
Most of the series in one place. My child is an avid reader for six and loves this series. I was happy to purchase this series to read books similar to Ricky Ricotta and Captain Underpants. This box set allowed for quality hard back books for a reasonable price. The fifth book can be purchased separately for reasonable cost.

Great book, my 6 year old loves it
We live this books, but I did not realise it’s only 3 of the 5 books, so not really value for money as we already had part 1
