Excellent Quality; Superior Service
I bought these to give my betta something to do — after all, they have to chase down their food in the wild, and hanging around in a tank with only a snail for company has got to be boring! So I thought it would be good for him to chase down as least part of his food. I'm spoiling him a bit, since he's a super-picky eater and hates flakes, pellets, and dried stuff, even when I grind them small. I also thought it would be great for weekends when I'm not at the office — I don't have to worry about him not getting fed for two days. The package arrived 10 days earlier than I expected, and it contains a good mix of sizes from just barely visible to enormous. My betta clearly thinks these are the most fun he's had since he got his big, aerated tank. My coworkers enjoy watching him chase down his meals. And it's fun to look over and see both the fish and his prey flitting around the tank. Huge win for me and my picky little fish.Couple of caveats.(1) This was WAY more water than I expected. I've tried to show that in the pictures: the left photo shows the shipping box after I'd emptied two of the five bags; the right photo shows just how much those two bags held. (That's a 1½ gallon betta tank I transferred them to.) Obviously, I'm going to need something a bit bigger to hold the rest. So if you are ordering, plan on a 3 to 5 gallon container to hold them all.(2) There are no care or propagation instructions; it's literally 5 bags of water full of critters. So if you're planning to culture these little guys, make sure you go online and find instructions for care and feeding.(3) I didn't have any problems with burst bags, probably because each smaller bag is double-bagged, then the whole batch is enclosed in a third bag which completely fills the shipping box. A few of the innermost bags were a bit drippy, but none of them seemed to have burst. No thanks to the shipping service, because even though the box is labeled "Live Animals" and "Liquid," it looks like the carrier sat on it and then kicked it down two flights of stairs.
