Good tarp but read the description for accurate measurements
This tarp is made from nice, heavy canvas with excellent grommets and strong sewn seams. It is described as measuring 7’ x 9’ (84” x 108”) and based on that measurement, I bought it to temporarily fill a specific opening in my basement and capture some ambient heat in the room. When I opened it I found that, in truth, it is short on both sides. It actually measures 6’ 10” x 8’ 6” (82” x 102”), and does not fill the opening as I expected. I went back and read the description closer, I saw that the advertised measurements are NOT the finished size, and the actual measurements are in fact listed. My bad for inattention. In any event, this is a nice heavy tarp, does what I needed it for, and hangs very flat. Since it’s visible I didn’t want it to look like crap, but I see that after two days the wrinkles have already flattened from hanging it. I’m not noticing much smell at all.I’m also curious: the listing says indoor / outdoor use, but the package label says outdoor use only. Which is correct and why?

Size is only 4”6” x 6’6”.
Great quality but it wasn’t clear that it was only 4’6” x 6’6”. I had to have a full 5x 7. Sorry I couldn’t use it.

shrinks a lot, mildews badly, not water resistant enough
I have now owned several tarps made by Chicago Tarp, and I have to say they are of inferior quality. I guess I should have learned after the first one. All treated canvas tarps shrink somewhat and none are completely waterproof, but the tarps I have bought from this company are basically a waste of money, and they're not cheap. PROBLEM 1: shrunk to such a huge extent that it no longer covers my boat; I bought it large enough to exceed the end of my boat by 2 feet each end, and now I can no longer use the tarp because it has shrunk so much that the boat is no longer covered. Not kidding. PROBLEM 2: Terrible mildew. My Tarp is covering my canoe which is up on a trailer. The tarp is peaked up to an angle of about 45 degrees to the ground and pulled tight, and even the peak which has no possibility of water ever pooling is covered in disgusting mildew. This is in Oklahoma where the weather is dry and sunny the majority of the time. PROBLEM 3: water gets through and pools in my boat. My previous experience with treated cotton canvas tarps has been from a brand called Defender which I don't makes them anymore. Those tarps did not mildew, did not shrink enough for me to ever notice and did in fact keep the water out of my boats, so it's not just "the nature of cotton tarps". I would look elsewhere if you want a traditional, heavy-duty treated cotton tarp because these just don't hold up.

Thick, sturdy, well-stiched - but not waterproof
Many reviewers are complaining that this tarp is not waterproof, but it is NOT advertised as waterproof. The description says water-resistant. These two terms are NOT the same. I was hoping it would be waterproof, but it's not. After an initial test, I thought it was waterproof. I made a depression and it held water for quite a while until I emptied it. After I went to quite a bit of trouble to situate the canvas horizontally where I wanted it, and tested it by spraying with a hose attachment, MOST water ran off the tarp, but some soaked through here and there. I've ordered some waterproofing spray for canvas. This is a good canvas tarp, very well made. Expensive, but worth it, IMO.

Nice Waterproof Duck Cloth Canvas Tarp
The waterproof duck cloth canvas tarp cover is exactly what I wanted. The color I chose was basically brown. The grommets seem sturdy with spacing typical. Fits okay. I probably needed the next size up but that is on me. Measure what it is to be covered before ordering is a good idea but the size is accurate. Price is okay. The only thing I noticed was there seemed to be places where the wax or dye was not consistent. White or light streaks. It does smell bad but that is the dye/wax so it was expected. It is for outside use so the smell will eventually go away. Again, overall positive.

Great Tarp for the right application, don’t use for a deck shade though.
I got this to stretch over a pergola on my deck. It’s a nicely made tarp and the color was really nice (Gold). However, it’s absolutely the wrong kind of tarp for that application and I had to return it (The seller will tell you the same thing). For one thing, the canvas can’t take the tension required to keep it from flapping in the wind (too much stress on the fabric around the grommets and it will rip). Also, I can’t state strongly enough how intense and unpleasant the smell from the waterproofing treatment is. Even after 2 weeks of being outside in the sun, rain and open air it was still amazingly strong. I’m sure after a season it would fade, and I tried to get used to it, but it’s a really powerful smell like creosote or linseed oil. Enough to ruin enjoyment of morning coffee and breakfast on the deck after 2 weeks.I’m giving it 5 stars because it would be a great tarp for the right application (covering a camper or the like) far out of smell range.

A REAL Tarp!
OMGosh this is a nice tarp! First of all, the color was not just a solid color, it had a ever so slight broken in tie die look to it, looked pretty cool! I used it for an event yesterday where it was snowing cats and dogs, I used it to cover a cart that I had to roll around. It was not light enough for the wind to touch it, but it was not heavy enough to blog me down. It kept everything under the tarp DRY. I first carried it on my cart ROLLED UP, it is very sturdy and has a wax on it, a little will come off on your hands, and some bled onto my cooler when it was exposed to snow (the cooler was sticking out a bit under the shelter. Because of the wax and it's sturdiness I was able to 'shape' it how I wanted. When I got home and unloaded, the tarp was really wet on one side so I popped it into the drying for 5 mins them laid it out flat to reshape later, turned out nice, really awesome product. Thank You for offering a REAL tarp instead of all the other junk offered here on Amazon lately! 10++++ Stars

Works, needs more reinforcement.
Works well enough for it's job as a make shift overhang to protect my wife's electric kiln from the rain. Water proof.A grommet ripped off, tearing though the canvas, after two weeks of use. Grommeted edges should be better reinforced with thicker canvas.

Fantastic
A proper waxed canvas tarp that is useful for so many purposes. Great thickness and quality, with tightly sewn seams and ring holes for threading cord to tie down.

The Tarp
We very much like the size and strength of the material. We set it up as a sunshade…attached to the house, a tree and a metal post and it felt like being in wonderful airy tent. We put in a nice center pole to hold it above our heads. We put potted plants around the pole and everyone loved the way it felt to be under this lovely canopy…..a very intimate feel. 🤗

Lona cheiro ruim
