Excellent Quality WIFI Adaptor / Antenna.
I will give You, My "Honest" Opinion of this WIFI "Dongle" (Was delivered, Next day, Excellent "Service" by Amazon "Again".)Please be careful when Opening the "Plastic" Casing, as the CDROM & Manual, are Centrally located, I Nearly "Cut" them, when Opening!. After Examining the "Dongle", I was very Impressed with the "Quality" & Gold "Plated" Connections, To the Antenna & USB Port, The Antenna has a "Reliable" & Secure; Plug & Socket, Allowing, Other "Antennas" (For, Trial "Purposes")As an "Add-On" Device to "Boost" signals. I found "Initially" the same or "Unstable" Signals, Compared to my "Laptop" WIFI, However, If you wish to "Experiment" with the "Antenna", I am at "Present" Using a "Modification" to the "Antenna" ( I will Gladly explain this; With the "Dongle" Upright, Adding; a "Piece" of Bare Wire 380mm. long, Wrapped around the metal casing of the USB Plug Diagonally to the "Tip" area of the Antenna. Try forming a "Loop" about 80mm. Diameter at the Tip (With the Surplus), I found an increase in Tx & Rx Signals, with a far Higher "Transfer" rate and "Totally stable WiFi reception, that has not Broken up yet!.)I was "Very" Sceptical about Buying another "WIFI" Extender, However, I Can "State" this one "Works" on Window 8, and the CDROM, is "easy" to Install. ( Allow, the Initial "Prompts" & "Check" you have "Added" the RALINK, WIFI/Adaptor, in Your "WIFI" Drivers!. ( You, Will still be able to "Access" Your "Old" Drivers & have "Dual" Control of Them!.)After You, have "Done" This you will find the "Link Information" Gives You, a Concise dBm. Listing of; Link-Quality/Signals. (TX-RX)That, is What, I found "Most" Important!. ( Excellent, Software!.)You, Could Try using; a USB "Extension" lead, with the "Dongle" & Place the "Unit" Nearer, Your "Window". (That would "Cut-Out" The "Interference" from, Brick Walls Etc.)Overall, I Am "Very" Impressed with this "Product" & Would "Recommend" it, As "Value" for Money at £10 Pounds, Post "Free" and "Excellent" AMAZON "Customer Services!.Steve.

easy to set up & works great (xp pro)
I'm very happy with mine, had it running about 2 weeks now, flawlessly. My router is upstairs on the landing, the adapter is in my lounge pc, so not a vast distance apart & I can't say how well it would work if the distance were greater, but it does the job for me.I installed the drivers off the supplied mini cd, this was very straightforward, I am quite pc savvy, if you are not I reckon you could still do it easy by following the instructions (I didn't bother). There was an option to install some wireless network utility which I didn't bother with either (the windows wireless utility is adequate so I didn't see the point).I am on Vigin Media 10mb, & I get the full 10mb with this adapter, same as I did with an ethernet cable direct from the router. The item itself is, as other reviewers have stated, nice and small, my old adapter was massive by comparison (Linksys WUSB600N), in fact the Linksys is approx 8 times the size. With this one I can use the usb port adjacent to the adapter, the Linksys one was so wide that I could not.Great item, works well & for £6.99 delivered you can't go wrong in my opinion.

Great Product... but you must read this if you are experiencing problems...
I bought this USB wireless stick for our new PC that did not come with a wireless card. I choose it (like many it seems) based on its over-whelming positive reviews. However, my experience wasn't entirely smooth.Easy to install, works straight out of the box. Connection to our Virgin Router (approx 8m away through 2x external walls) shows 3-4 bars... not the best, but at least its connected. The problem I had was an extremely slow connection to the Internet. Installing products like Visual Studio 2012 and SQL Server 2012 (large packages ~ 600Mb) took an age... and quite often timed out with a dropped connection. Our Virgin connection is supposedly 30Mbs, and download speeds were indicating ~60kbs... slow! Many other reviews state this issue without a resolution. So here's mine and it's really simple! After an online speed test showed a faster upload speed than download speed (yeah, that's right... it was something like 0.29Mbs download), I simply took out the USB stick and placed it into a different USB port on my PC, the one on the front (it was initially in the back). Did the same online speed test and got 32Mbs. Bingo.I tried all the USB ports on the rear of my PC, and they all exhibited the same speed, whilst the two front ports did not. So I surmised that either the read USB ports are slow, or there is interference back there (could be the power cables, the DVI lead for the monitor, anything). So I used a USB extention cable on a rear port to so that the device was located at the front of the PC. Ran a speed test again and got 28Mbs. Perfect. So there you have it. I conclude that possibly many of the bad reports for this product "may" be down to their own individual hardware circumstances.I hope this helps anyone with the same issues that I had. Since the fix (10 minutes ago!), everything has been working fantastic at a very high speed.I drop a star because they should really mention this in the documentation (I couldn't find this information anywhere), as it is probably a likely cause for issues that occur with this product.Cheers.
