Great outdoor speaker!!!
I was not sure if an outdoor subwoofer was going to make a difference on my pool area; boy I was wrong; this speaker makes a huge difference, I have two polk atrium speakers on hanging on a wall and 2 nile 6.5 rock speakers and this subwoofer blends perfectly with them and it makes a whole new impact on my outdoor nights; you can feel the punch of the lows and music sounds as it should! I located this on a corner in order to increase the wave of the low tones, I have guest that have inquired me how is possible that I have so great outdoor sound at low volume!!!! We love this product and amazon had it at the right price!!! here is one happy customer!

Excellent value for price
I purchased 1 TIC TFS50 Subwoofer, 2 TIC TFS25s omnidirectional speakers, and 4 TIC TFS10s to go around my pool and cover approximately 4000sq ft. of my backyard. They are driven by the Pyle PT8000CH amplifier and sourced by a Sonos Connect for Spotify and SiriusXM. Do they sound as good as my niles rock speakers that I left at my old house when we moved (stupid move on my part), no. Do they sound really good for 1/3 the price...Yes! Aprox $750 for speakers, $320 amp, $350 Sonos =$1,500 for a kick-ass loud as hell outdoor system. Iโll take it. Audiophile Iโm not, but I enjoy loud Classic Rock, Hard Rock, Metal which pushes the speakers- no regrets on this purchase. Apologies in advance to my neighbors....I told my wife โif they complain, I wonโt hear them over the musicโ.

Fills low end into outside pool area.
This is not a powered subwoofer, so you'll need to run the both Left and Right speaker wires from your amp to this subwoofer, then from this subwoofer to your left and right speaker wires. Depending upon the location of your amp and L/R speakers this might be easy or not. For me, it was pretty easy, based upon location. The benefit is that it's pretty easy to run speaker wire and this unpowered subwoofer does not need to be placed near a power outlet, which can be difficult to locate outside. It's not a pounding, forceful bass. However, it definitely improved the sound our two outdoor speakers (Yamaha). Before adding this subwoofer, which is powered by a Sonos 100 amp, the Yamaha's sounded ok, but as if the treble had been turned up. This is probably more due to their outside placement and the concrete patio and other very hard / reflective surfaces than the speakers, which sounded fuller when I tested them inside. Adding this subwoofer really improved our patio tunes. The rock appearance lets you stick in in corners or all sorts of locations where people just don't pay attention to it.

Nice outdoor sub
I purchased this sub to go along with 4 Tic tfs6cn8 for my yard, I have it hooked up to a Speakercraft 8 ch amp and I do hear more bass with the sub hooked up. I plan on bridging this sub at the amp for more power, but overall it's pretty good. Tic does have bigger subs if you think this wont fit your application. The sub also has 2 pass through wires so you can add another sub or speakers directly off of this sub.

A nice addition...
A great addition to a set of TIC Corporation TFS10-CN 8-Inch 175-Watt Terra-Forms Pro-Series speakers. Not the cleanest bass I've heard, but then I have some VERY high end indoor equipment. This adds just the right amount of low end punctuation to fill out the sound. Update 11/11/2016: just as others have said this speaker failed in less than 2 years. VERY unacceptable! The only good point is that the part of the crossover that feeds the satelites still works so I do have stereo sound. It sounded great while it worked. Either the bass output of the crossover failed or the voice coil of the woofer. Absolutely no output from the woofer... not a peep! In any case this is VERY poor quality! Shame on TIC!

Could have been better
This speaker looks Nice, the cabinet(?)is well built and sealed, feels solid and fairly heavy especially considering it's very reasonable price, but has disappointing sound and low volume in comparison to even a low wattage powered sub. I purchased this subwoofer for an outdoor pergola I just built. I was going to use it in conjunction with a pair of outdoor Sonance speakers mounted under the eaves of the pergola. After doing as much research and reading as many reviews as I could on all outdoor rock speakers, I chose the TIC. In retrospect, do whatever you can to listen first before you buy! But this is not easy for outdoor rock speakers. There aren't very many shops that have them on display to audition. First off, the speaker looks very good for an imitation rock. No big grille holes or slots that many others have that shouts "Fake Rock". It has an 8" driver mounted facing up with an omni-directional grille pattern and a built in passive 2.1 crossover network to make for easy integration with 2 satellite speakers. I had hoped I would be happy with this as a simple solution to make a good sounding patio system. Unfortunately, the sub volume is far low and the bass isn't well defined, not as "muddy" as some cheap subs are, but not very articulate when compared to even an inexpensive powered subwoofer like you would use for a Home Theater system. The Sonance speakers I am pairing this up with arent overly efficient (88db), a fairly average rating, so I had hoped for better integration. The main complaint is the sub volume is much too low to be effective in this 2.1 passive configuration. I've run this sub almost daily for a month now and it should be broken in well enough to see any improvements that come as the speaker settles in. These results were duplicated when I tried a few different pairs of bookshelf speakers I have on hand too. The sub volume is simply too low. In fairness, the sub may pair up better with TIC's satellite rock speakers, as originally intended. My next step to salvage the sub (and the rock) in this system is to remove the sealer from the bottom and bypass the crossover. I purchased a 100 watt Dayton Plate amp to run the 2.1 system with the sub powered, instead of running the sub passive. Passive 2.1, or sub/sat systems were the rage in the early days of surround sound, but have largely fallen out of favor. Perhaps this is why, or maybe the TFS50's crossover could have been better designed to play the satellite speakers at lower volumes to bring out more bottom end of the music spectrum in a more convincing fashion.

Excellent sound, great appearance, limited life
UPDATE: 8/1/2013 - this unit died after 2.5 years. It really should last longer for the price. Paint is also flaking off and has faded substantially. I've taken away two stars for this. While it worked, it sounded great and looked good. Bought this for use near our new pool, to flesh out the bass for our outdoor sound system. It adds substantial and great sounding bass, complementing our two tweeter/mid-range speakers. Using a very basic outdoor amp with tiny wattage per channel, this speaker delivers great bass with an appropriate fixed crossover setting. The look of the rock finish is excellent and it has genuinely fooled a couple of people already. It is solidly constructed, weighty enough and provides 1 meter leads for input and passthrough wiring. Wire appears to be 14AWG. I'd prefer 12AWG, but 14 is entirely appropriate for the purpose. I have this subwoofer wired via 12AWG direct burial cable, running about 60 feet from the amp. The midrange/tweeter speakers tie off of the subwoofer, each about 30 feet distant from the subwoofer. The combination is excellent and precisely as advertised. Admittedly, compared to my high-end indoor 800 watt powered subwoofer in a dedicated theater, the sound from the Terra-form subwoofer is a bit muddy. But this is an artificial comparison given the relative placement and the degree of acoustic tuning and dollar investment. Excellent value, design, build and aesthetic, exactly as advertised.

Great purchase
This was purchased as a gift for my husband for Christmas. We use it out under our patio which is approximately 20 X 15. We also have two outdoor Yamaha speakers to go with it and sounds great. No complaints here it's the perfect addition to our party area and the color matches great also.
