I run my consulting business for mining industry.I constantly needs to visit mining site in the middle of nowhere.I started using this device for our team communication onsite. The device supports very very long range communication.so far we haven't noticed any difference in reception or transmission when we are there. The terrain is moderate with innumerable trees and sometimes under the ground too. In additional the material is quite strong. ideal for heavy duty use in rough environment.

Great deal
I really enjoy this radio. I liked them so much and ordered 2 more radios. We charged for 24 hours before first use, used them all day(12 hours), and batteries are still at full power. I huge motivator for getting more of these radios is their battery life.I tested them for distance yesterday, I got 3 miles away in a mostly open area with some trees,it works great!

It has a larger and better sounding speaker
I recently received as gifts two Baofeng BF-F8HP radios (1/4/8 watt) and two Lisheng LS-747 radios (1/5/10 watt, manual says drops to 8W as battery charge goes down). Both can be found on Amazon. The Lisheng radio beat the Baofeng hands down in the RF department, both with a clear strong transmit, and in ferreting out weak signals such as distant toy FRS radios downhill. It has a larger and better sounding speaker, and its microphone can be used with a casual voice from several inches away. The Baofeng has to be growled into at close range to get usable speech under the same conditions (ten miles, raining, some hills and many tall firs in between). Both radios set up for identical channel/deviations, only one turned on at a time at each end, so no IF interference causing problems during my comparison. As noted, neither are approved for GMRS sticklers. The Lisheng came with a 4-3/8 inch telescoping antenna (17-1/5 extended), and although the Amazon item says 1800mAh, mine came with a 3600mAh battery.Pros on the Lisheng over the Baofeng:- Tx and Rx quality is so much better than the Baofeng, even with the antenna retracted- Microphone works really well out of the box- Cradle has four pins (-/comms/temp/+) for an intelligent battery charge, and 12VDC barrel input allows for easy vehicle power adaptation- Feels really solid in your hand- Buttons are larger and have easily touch-discernable raised surfaces for eyes-free operation under duress- Top dials have raised indicator marks for eyes-free volume and channel control- Although a little taller, this lends to better ergo, as even my small hands can't find enough room on the Baofeng for a solid grip during index finger PTT usage- Belt clip is one piece of steel, and can take more bending/wear than the plastic Baofeng clip- Reflective grille is at surface level, should you wish to paint over to reduce reflections- Speaker/mic door is easier to open- 199 memory slots instead of 127, and you can program 6-character channel names directly on the unit without needing a PC- The six-segment Rx indicator actually changes depending on input signal strengthThings I miss from the Baofeng:- The LCD menu/readout capability is a little more simplistic, shows one line of six-characters with an old school 16-segment font- PC programming has to be done with LS-747 software from Lisheng running as Windows Admin mode, there are no compatible settings that I know of for the CHIRP open source software- No VHF capability (no MERS, Weather, Marine)- No dual-watch capability (except FM reception while awaiting UHF reception)- No LED flashlight (it ain't much of a loss though, and maybe good riddance if you want to stay hidden)Stuff you can bring along to Lisheng from your Baofeng:- Baofeng/Generic USB serial programming cable works fine, set Lisheng volume at 50% on a quiet channel- Baofeng rubber antenna will fit if you gently squeeze its shoulders down into the Lisheng housing as you screw it in -- but it's a lesser performing antenna, I don't recommend it- Nagoya NA-771 antenna will only fit if you lightly ream out the inner shoulder of the Lisheng to remove about 0.4mm of plastic all the way around the inside, otherwise you can't screw it down all the way- NOT WORKING: Baofeng handheld speaker/mike can't pick up your voice for transmission

Great radios!!
Actually,I never heard this brand before. I brought it because I just want to give it a try. It was surprising that they worked well enough for our cruise! This is my second pair of 2-Way radios. I have tried other bands and been very disappointed, but this one has never let me down .We never had any problems with interference or static. I highly recommend these 2-way radios. We have been using them for a long time now and the battery has never run out at the end of each day.
