L'Oréal Technique HiColor Red HiLights Permanent Hair Color

This color knocks it out of the park. Bold red, really strong color that needs redone every 4 weeks and will always look bright. This dye has been my go-to for years and for good reason. My dark blonde hair takes to this dye with no bleaching and is apple red afterwards. It still lifts with darker hair and being able to skip the lightening step is great for your hair.

If you are looking for a vibrant red that doesn't fade and actually lifts a couple levels... L'Oreal Technique HiColor Red HiLights in Red is for you. Seriously, it's the only permanent red I've found that doesn't wash out to a crazy coppery mess. My color fade is barely noticeable after 4-6 weeks. If you know Reds, you know this is a total unicorn moment. Add that the color drop when wet is so minimal after the first wash that you'll barely know it's happening... UNICORN! My hair is below mid back in length, long and 1C in type. My natural color is between a level 5 light brown and a level 6 dark blonde with a lot of natural white (which means one day I'll look like a very wise woman lol). Technically, this color is made to lift much lower levels. Which is perfect for me, as I'm aiming for a lighter level for my bold red. For 8 years I've been using two tubes of L'Oreal Technique HiColor Red HiLights along with a small amount of L'Oreal HiColor Reds in Red Hot. For the Red Hot, I don't measure it - I use a single line and a half running across my divided color bowl. This small amount of Red Hot adds just the right amount of depth. It moves this color from a fun extra bright red, which isn't great for my golden skin hue, to a really bold red. It ends up looking like a true red with sass, as opposed to being too pink or orange. My color is gorgeous and I consistently receive compliments on it from all age groups. The lift this color allows is amazing. My formulation is between a level 7 and a level 8. I never experience hot roots, demarcation lines or patchiness. Just ensure if you're doing multiple applications at the new growth, midshaft, and ends that you are formulating appropriately. Also note, depending on your hair health, strength, and texture -this style of lightening might be too intense. Personally, I find it just right for my needs. Though, I do spend money on products to repair the damage it causes and that would be the case when using any lightening or bleach products. I have used this color line to lift my hair when I've gone a little darker than I prefer. Just know a stronger developer means more damage, which may or may not be repairable. Also, I'm not suggesting this color line can lift a level 2 to a level 5-6. Though I have used it to gradually lift color over time when my hair was really healthy, that's not the best thing to do if you have previous color damage. Hands down, this is the best line for Red formulations I've ever used. If you're looking for a unicorn, bold Red color formula that barely fades, barely drops color when wet, and lifts like a pro... Didn't give me the red i wanted it gave me burgundy

I absolutely love this color and how it turned out HOWEVER.... I'm not sure if I was to mix this with something or what? It is like paste? I'm not sure how to explain it but it isn't like your typical dye and when I put it in my hair it made my hair stiff and felt like I had put glue or something in my hair. I'm not sure if I will buy this product again?
