Dorfman PacificDPC Outdoors Solarweave Treated Cotton Hat

This is a great hat for living on the gulf coast of Florida. I measured my husbands head and ordered according to the size chart. The hat fits very well. I was very disappointed to receive the hat folded and smooshed into a plastic bag and a box that was only 2" high. After some manipulating the hat did somewhat return to it's original shape. I only decided to keep it because my husband was satisfied with it. Shipping needs to be better so customers are receiving the great product as it's meant to be.

I tried the white hat version out in the high Sierra Nevada recently and it worked perfectly, keeping my head cool and after three days on all day walks in clear blue skies and high altitude UV, the top of my head took on no red color at all. I expected some color and had brought a white bicycle type cap just in case, to wear under this hat, but it makes your head get hotter; and thankfully was not needed. I purposely did not use sunscreen on my bald pate, to test out the hat. Worked perfectly ! For years I've been using a walking hats with wide brim and a nylon shroud protecting the back of the neck, but it made me hot and also I looked like a nerd in photos. My head was so much cooler with this hat and the wide-brim protected my neck in the afternoon too. I tipped the hat a bit to assist. Keeping you head cool = a great outcome. Now I wear it everyday on walks.

A hat is kind of like a pair of shoes: you can't exactly tell if they fit until you've worn them a few times; you have to grow together. I had a similar hat, but it was made from woven paper and showed sweat stains that were almost impossible to get out without ruining the hat. Despite that, it fit perfectly and had become molded to my head. This hat looks better, has a wider brim that is stiffer, and has mesh sides. It also has a drawstring for walking in windy weather. At first I wasn't sure if it actually fit right, but after a few days it seemed to sit right on my head. I don't know if it gave a little or I just got more used to it. It eventually fit so that it wouldn't come off in a breeze or if I bent over to use my doggy bags. I took off the drawstring, and now only put it on if it's really windy outside. The hat sits lightly on my head, yet is snug and secure and has those wonderful mesh panels on the side. My head is 22 1/4 in circumference, which translates to a 7 1/8 hat size. I ordered a medium. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that I've only had this hat for about a month and am waiting to see how it holds up over time.

It took me 3 tries to find this perfect hat. I play golf and have had two instances of skin cancer on my face and ear. I need a wide brim had to shade my head while playing. I had found a hat last year that I thought was good. If you have ever watched Caddie Shack, then you will recognize the comments my friends threw at me. “Did you get soup with that hat?” So I have kept looking. I found this hat, read the reviews and thought that I would give it a chance. I have a large head and most hats feel like a beany when I cram it onto my head. I measured my head and ordered an XL in oatmeal. I loved the color but it was definitely too big. I had to laugh a bit, because I never felt that before. I requested a return which they processed promptly and gave me a postage paid label. When I tried to order oatmeal in L, it was out of stock. So I ordered the camel in L. I screwed this up just a bit, so I ended up getting both orders. Well, my wife took any doubt out of my mind. She loved the camel, so, I guess. I did too. Well it turns out I really like the camel color. It is much more tan than the color online. So I returned the oatmeal large. Again, it was processed promptly. So, I love the hat. It is comfortable to play in, stays on my head and two of my friends have asked where I got it. And the company has been a pleasure to work with. No soup yet.

Nice hat. When I got it, my wife liked it so much, I ordered another one for her! We wear them for fishing. I'm a head sweater, the mesh top lets the air in and lets the heart out. The wide brim is perfect for maximum blocking the sun! You can get it wet too!Update: I wore my hat for the first time fishing yesterday. I was very pleased with it. The wide brim kept the sun off my face, and the liner band kept my from getting sweat in my eyes. I really like having the chin strap, it kept my hat from blowing off when the boat was moving at high speeds. The underside of the brim is a dark green, this is important for reducing the glare from the water from reflecting in my face. Of course the mesh crown is terrific, it let my body heat out and the breeze through, keeping me nice and cool. I'm not a hat guy, but it can get really hot on the water here in Florida, this hat was made for for fishing in the heat! It looks good too, even on me!

I was looking for an inexpensive wide-brimmed hat to keep my dome and neck covered while mowing the lawn. While it seems the Tilley hats enjoy the premiere reputation in this category I wasn’t interested in spending quite so much for a hat that will basically only ever be used in the yard a couple hours a week so I settled on this one (in camel).Fit and finish is generally fine and it does a nice job of sun protection, but there are a couple things that bother me enough to drop the rating. First, the mesh sides, while allowing lots of air through for cooling, is of such a loose weave that the wearer’s head is clearly visible through the hat, which looks kind of silly sometimes. Add to this the fact that the sweatband is black and overlaps that mesh on the inside of the hat, creating a sort of visible black stripe that runs around the circumference of the hat on the inside, and the hat can look a bit goofy when worn. For my chosen purpose – alone with the lawn mower - this isn’t a problem, but I don’t know that I would want to wear this anywhere where appearance mattered…

This hat is everything I've been looking for: light weight, full brim sun protection, excellent air circulation, chin strap, and great looks. This is now my daily walking hat for three of the four seasons (not winter). Extremely comfortable, and exact fit.

Beautiful hat with a wide brim. It’s difficult to find a size 8 hat, and this one actually fits. It’s perfect for gardening and dressy enough to wear out tripping around.

Just received hat. Great shape & good fit. I did not go through a few washings to see how well it holds up without damage & shrinkage.Can somebody answer this question. Will the sun go through the mesh & SUNBURN my bald head?Fred

Es perfecto para cubrir del sol en mi caminata diaria al trabajo. Es fresco, ligero, de ala ancha para el sol y muy resistente. Cómodo y fácil de transportar. Altamente recomendable.
