Just love punky products! Bought this a couple of times along with the blue one for a purple-to-blue ombré effect and it looks stunning! Now trying red-to-purple ombré and it looks amazing too! Works fantastic on bleached hair and even when my roots came through (light brown) it still showed up but a darker purple. Definitely would recommend to anyone who wants fun colours and vibrant hair! Works best with bleached or light hair and I use the shampoo about twice a week (once a week would probably be fine) which reignites the colour, but wouldn’t say you need to dye it any colours before for it to work! Love this stuff!

I love how this shows up on darker hair. (same level as the product or lighter). Great color payoff where it counts. On my medium reddish-brown sections, the color comes out really vibrant and noticeable. It also shows up on darker hair better than I expected. Fades differently depending on your hair. It rinses out of my grown-out natural hair faster than the rest, which makes sense based on hair type/porosity. Not a complaint—just something to be aware of. Easy to use and smells nice. Super straightforward application, and the scent isn’t overwhelming like some color products. Prep matters. Use a barrier cream (like Vaseline) around your hairline to avoid staining. It doesn’t stain too badly if you do this, but it will if you don’t. And seriously—wear gloves. Just trust me on that one. Best for: Adding vibrant color to medium or darker hair Refreshing tone between salon visits Easy, at-home color maintenance Not ideal for: Those expecting completely even fade across different hair types Anyone skipping prep (you’ll regret it) Bottom line: Vibrant, easy to use, and works well on darker tones—just take a minute to prep and definitely wear gloves.

I’ve used purchased this a few times now after trying to find a color-depositing shampoo and/or conditioner that wasn’t meant to just remove brassy tones from blonde/bleached hair. I was trying to find which deposited the most color. This review is for the purple (not lavender) product. MY HAIR: My hair has a few big chunks of deep purple (violet!!) “peekaboo” highlights over bleached sections, and black/purple over all the rest. (Any “creative” color will typically require very light or bleached hair for the vibrance most want in a “creative” color.) WHY I USE IT: Apparently my hair is also super porous, because even washing with cold (BRRR in winter!!) water with color-safe shampoo, the color would fade super quickly into a not-vibrant pink — not the color I want. COLOR: Using this, the color stays vibrant longer and never fades to pink. I still have to get my roots done of course, but I don’t have that line of demarcation from my naturally dark brown-and-gray hair, so I can push it a wee bit longer too. SCENT: bubble gum VALUE: This is half the cost for the same amount of the other one I’ve used that I liked… That one is Watercolors, but it’s much thinner and worse for lather. I’ve not tried any other colors, but would try this brand first for sure if I were to change colors. LATHER: Some reviews complain about the lack of lather. All color-safe shampoo will be light or non-existent on lather because sulfates are harsh surfactants, and surfactants are what makes shampoo lather. **This one is creamy and I don’t have a problem with the lather. **NOTE: As with any color-treated hair, the less frequently you wash it, the better. My hair is thin and tends toward dry, so I don’t have to wash every day. Even so, depositing color every wash kind of takes that out.

I LOVE this hair color. It’s the perfect consistency, liquid enough that it spreads well but thick enough that it doesn’t splatter. Color is super vibrant. My hair is dark brown and has had a TON of different colors on it. I did one round of bleach before, and admittedly needed to do another, but the color is still vibrant. The bottle is huge and is perfect for those of us with long, thick hair. I usually need 2 boxes of box dye, but this covers me with extra left over. The dye does stain very easily, you’ll definitely need gloves and bleach for the bathtub after.

This was my first time trying a color depositing shampoo. Because I had dyed my hair purple several months ago, I thought I’d try this to refresh the color and it works beautifully! Granted, I do not have virgin hair, so I don’t know if it’ll work if you haven’t bleached your hair before, but in my case, with curly textured hair that’s been bleached before, it works incredibly well. It says to leave it in for 5-10 minutes, I think left it in for 20. But I’ve had zero issues and the color is very vibrant. I definitely want to try their other color depositing shampoos in the future!
