This is great stuff

The salt is excellent quality and it keeps well in the plastic tub. Some of the pictures make the tub look a bit rectangular (except for the picture of the lid, which is circular- but you might miss that if you didn't go through all the pictures for the item on the listing page) but the tub is in fact circular with a useful handle. The lid comes off easy and is airtight and keeps the salt fresh. The salt itself is genuine sea salt, but unlike a lot of other sea salts this salt is pure white. The flavour is complex and not overly 'salty' and you will probably use more of this than other salts in comparison to the quantity of salt needed to get the same level of saltiness taste in meals or recipes, but be careful because obviously you can add more if you need to so try a little at first. Having said that it has such a good overall flavour that you may find yourself using less of this salt in your food. One major thing you should know is you cannot use this salt in a grinder. If you try to grind it doesn't grind and you simply end up with a blocked grinder. The crystals are thin and mostly flat, which is why they won't grind. See my photo below to see exactly what the grains are like. They range in sizes from very small to whole crystals. You won't need a grinder anyway as they easily crumble in your fingers. Actually the shape of them makes them good for salt blends, for example with powdered seaweed or black pepper, and you can add them to breadcrumbs as the salt grains mix well without becoming the overall flavour. A bit expensive but a very high quality salt and the useful container is a bonus as it keeps the salt fresh and dry.

Oh my goodness, where do I even start with this Maldon sea salt? It's like the salt of the gods, if the gods were obsessed with making everything taste a little bit better. I mean, sure, you could go with regular old table salt if you want your food to taste like a boring, soulless wasteland. But if you want to elevate your taste buds to the heavens, you need to try this stuff. The flakes are so delicate and crispy, it's like they were made by tiny little salt fairies dancing around a magical sea salt crystal tree. And the flavor? Oh, the flavor. It's like a symphony of savory goodness in your mouth. I put this stuff on everything. Toast? Sprinkle some Maldon sea salt on top. Scrambled eggs? You better believe they're getting a little Maldon action. Ice cream? Okay, maybe not ice cream, but you get the point. Honestly, I don't know how I ever lived without this salt. It's like my taste buds were living in a dingy basement and now they're living in a fancy penthouse suite. Do yourself a favor and get some of this salt of the gods ASAP. Your taste buds will thank you.

Maldon’s been a staple in our house for the last ~two decades. It’s very flavoursome yet not overpowering or acrid. This behemoth size tub is gvfm and lasts about a year (and I cook A LOT!) which means we don’t have to constantly remember to add it to the shopping basket. The one minor negative I’ve found is that some of the salt flakes are large, almost thumbnail size pieces and can be rock hard too, which is fine if it’s soups and stews etc you’re adding it to as they’ll soon dissolve in the hot liquid, otherwise I recommend crushing these larger crystals down a tiny bit before use (easily done with the back of a spoon or a pestle & mortar) as they tend not to fully melt on something like roast potatoes/veggies etc (and that’s even at high temps for 30 minutes) and you’re left with salt flakes on your food, which is not a pleasant experience. This aside, it’s still the best brand for salt as far as I’m concerned.

Easy to store tub of a great sea salt flake that enhances the flavor of your favorite meal. Great deal for the price.
