Also Had Issues, Got Insight from Wavian
I love the Wavian steel gas cans, got this at the same time. Had 2 summers of issues and finally remembered to email Wavian about it. Here's what they said: · The Tap would start to firm up between 6 and 9 o’clock · We could get the Tap to skip the thread at about 3 o’clock · We found that if we lay the Can on it’s back and applied firm downward pressure whilst we were tightening the Tap, that downward pressure would compress the Rubber Seal on the Tap sufficiently that the thread would grab better, and we could tighten the Tap to 6 o’clock without it skipping the thread. Once we had done this, it was like the Seal was ‘bedded in’, and we could remove and install the Tap again and again, without excessive downward pressure, and it would easily reach the 6 o’clock position without skipping the thread, be very, very firm and easily work with one-handed operation without rotating at all. · Next, thinking about the seal, ‘bedding it in’, and what its role was in pushing back against the Tap as the Tap was being screwed in and likely causing the thread-skip, we started playing around with the seal. It was Jon who found that, whilst the seal really only sits naturally in one position, it could be rotated 90-degrees on the Tap which resulted in it being more tapered in toward the thread of the Tap. I have attached two images showing the Tap Seal as it is supplied (1004T1.jpg) and how it looks when rotated 90-degrees (like rolled in position) resulting in a slightly tapered position (1004T2.jpg). · We found that on those hard-to-find Cans where the Tap would skip the thread, ‘rolling’ the seal so that it was tapered overcame the skip, and in one circumstance, a combination of rolling the seal and applying a little more pressure when screwing the Tap in meant a perfect fit. It is like that fraction of a millimetre being removed from the seal by tapering it inwards towards the thread, makes a world of difference on those Cans that have skipped the thread. Again, we had to search through dozens of Cans to even find one that would skip a thread.

I hoped this would be better
This is a nice water can, and I really like the concept. It is far superior than the cheap Scepters or Colmans. I really want a nice, robust can that is easy to use, and I'm willing to pay for it. I actually like the water bricks, but the dispensing system is worthless so I tried this. I think I will get more.... maybe. Unfortunately, this is only ... %60 of what it could be with only %10 more effort. I'd gladly pay double for a delux version. 1. The material is thick, but not thick enough. It still boughs out, and I'm worried about it deforming permanently in the heat. Its ok I guess, but some nice, thick internal ribs would be really great. 2. The air vent is a little small, I'm considering drilling it out, but the cover looks like it mates with the hole. 3. The spigot threads are kind of soft, and the spigot is easy to twist over (jump threads if you torque it to tight). 4. The spigot valve twists in the same axis as the soft threads, so the entire spigot turns when you try to open the valve. 5. The spigot plug is not tool-les, nor is there any cleaver, built in tool to turn it. Subject to damage.

Sturdy, good size
Got two for my Jeep for backcountry camping / overlanding use. They're very well built containers and sized so that I can pick them up full (senior, woman). Works for me. I'm not fond of using plastic containers for water, but these are as good as they get.

Great versatile can, no leaks!
This is a really versatile can. It comes with a spout that you can screw into the lower hole so you don't have to lift and pour the water. Also, since it has standard half inch hose threads, I bought the Camco 4ft TastePURE Drinking Water Hose to attach to the lower hole. The spout can screw onto on the end of the hose. (You'll need to move the o-ring from the spout to the hose end attached to the can to avoid leaks)

Air valve does not fully seal
I’m disappointed with the seals on the caps. I feel like I have to put the strength of Harambe into fully sealing the main cap for a tight seal. However with a small air release cap there is no tight seal resulting in a slow leak. The main reason for purchasing this is so I can take portable water on long ATV trips. I cannot do this due to the fact that there is not a tight seal and I cannot guarantee my water jug will be empty at the end of a long. Just disappointing especially with the Waivian name being pretty reliable.

Spout issues are real + solution
The spout issues everyone mentions ARE valid. I had some bad gelg Jerry cans so I figured I’d “upgrade” to wavian as they should be the best in the business. Unfortunately the reviews are correct. So close to a perfect product but it has glaring flaws. Nobody’s spigot sits right and then you have issues with the on/off twist dislodging the spigot making its 3 handed operation. I read some of the posts here and tried them, I also emailed wavian and they told me to put the can on it’s back and use pressure. None of the above worked. One of my cans worked somewhat okay, one would end up with the spigot pointing up to the sky. The issue seemed to lie with the cans as both spigots worked with can #1 and not can #2. Solution: Since I needed these to work by the next day I had to find the solution. It was quite simple. Your spigot will come with a rubber 0 ring. The 0 ring has a blue mark on it, for what, nobody knows. Perhaps this was supposed to come with instructions but the Amazon shipment doesn’t include them. Take off the o ring. Put it back on, but have that blue mark facing inside the can. So instead of facing up at you (as it comes) you want it facing in, towards the can, so you cannot see it at all. After doing this both spigots mounted quite well at the 6 o’clock position. This alone made them seem 8-9/10. The on/off wouldn’t cause dislodge most of the time or unless you spun it the wrong way by accident. I put dry lube on the on/off slide to make it just that extra but smoother. Now it works great… just hoping I don’t contaminate my water 😁 (although that doesn’t seem likely). The method with putting the can on its back did nothing for me. I don’t know if it is something that is meant to accomplish the same goal? Pressing and turning with force to get the o-ring to flip? Anyways, don’t waste your time with that. I don’t mind doing some work to get good products to work, but they clearly have an issue with productions and/or instructions. I am not at all confident in the can. I am leaving for a two week trip tomorrow and I will see if the spigot holds up, doesn’t seem, doesn’t come undone etc. If not I may up this review as a solution was found and the product is quite good. If it fails then I’ll adjust as well.

Spigot doesn't work
If you are buying this to only store water I suppose it does that. However the spigot is awful. It gets tight pointing up which means it shoots the water up into the air. If you tighten it any further it pops the threads and becomes loose and water shoots out everywhere. I was really excited to mount this on my small trailer as usable water jug. Its now become a very expensive water storage container. I reached out to Wavian 3x before I got a response stating sorry we cannot help if you want you can buy a new spigot. I will definitely avoid this brand going forward as they do not stand by their products.
