Last year our 12 year old Sheltie-Chow mix did not re-grow much of his coat several months after his summer trip to the dog groomer. Never had this issue before. He was drinking a lot more water and his skin had developed black spots visible through his thinning coat. Took him to the vet for his annual dental cleaning and he had a reaction to the anesthetic-no problems ever before. We knew something was wrong so he was tested for diabetes and thyroid, that wasn't it. The vet mentioned Cushing's disease which was going to involve an 8 hour stay at the vet's for testing and of course,more money. I started searching the internet to find out if anything could be done without any more expensive and possibly dangerous tests and drugs. I found out about the flax lignan and melatonin combination. These products were reasonably priced and not a lot of side effects either. We started him on the weight appropriate doses of the HMR Lignans and melatonin the next week. About a month later, we noticed his fur had started growing back, he was drinking less water, and as a bonus-being calmer during thunderstorms.. It's been a year now and just like the old days we have dog fur everywhere on him (and all over the house )again! No more trips to the groomer or dental cleanings for our 13 year "old man", but he's alive and doing well. This is definitely worth a try if you can not afford expensive vet bills for Cushing's treatment...*update 3/4/18 Our dog passed away yesterday. He lived to be 15 years old which is about 2-1/2 years longer than we thought he would. I believe the lignan and melatonin combination along with some cardio support vitamins gave us the extra time. He was chasing cats and squirrels right up until the day he died. His coat was just as full and beautiful as it was when he was 2 or 3. He had slowed down a bit in his last few months due to arthritis, but I have no regrets about giving him this product.

My 10 year old dog has Cushings. Didn't realize it immediately and vet tests were borderline. She was urinating frequently while napping. Initially I purchased pee pants and washable pads because I didn't know the reason. Then upon researching, I found a great reviewer's suggestion of a Dr's video and their praise of this product in helping their dog. Thank you reviewer. My vet was suggesting meds that were costly, required periodic costly testing, no guarantee of a better, longer life and you couldn't stop the meds once you start. I prefer holistic for myself and my pets if possible. Molly is doing great. No more accidents or need for pee pants. I do keep the pad under her blanket just in case. We went from 3 accidents in a week to none at all. She's happy and I'm happy she's happy.

After I noticed my dog's hair was thinning and she started having accidents on the floor in the morning, I learned she may have Cushings Disease. So I did my research and read about the University of Tennessee college of veterinary medicine (University Department of Endocrinology) is on the forefront of research in Cushing's and their Head of Endocrinology said, “Melatonin in combination with Lignans may be an effective treatment for Cushing's disease.”So I ordered these and started my dog on 1 HMR Lignan 40 MG and two Melatonin (one in the morning and one at night) a day and within 2 months notice her hair started getting thick again and she completely stopped having accidents. So I researched some more and read that 20 MG of HMR Lignan may work the same. So now I give her 1 HMR Lignan a day and one 3mg Melatonin and still have great results.The great thing that I have read and found out is there are no side effects with the HMR Lignan with either dose with my dog. Doing this save me tons of costly vet bills....... Do your own research and this may be the answer if your dog has Cushings disease!

Our vet recommended this and 3mg of Melatonin 2X a day for our rescue dauchsund who we suspected had Cushings. He eats it sprinkled over his regular food & has shown slow but steady progress over 3 months in his muscle and skin tone. More fur! Have ordered both through Amazon & the company directly - wonderful customer service dedication to their product. Not an overnight fix, but nice to have an alternative to medications with side effects for older dogs & dogs where prior illnesses/history in unknown.

Stuffing one of the pills down the throat of my dog, is not an easy task. So, I tried separating the capsules to sprinkle Lignans over my dogs food, and, although the manufacturer's website says that is an alternative way of dispensing this product, separating the capsules, was more difficult (had to cut them) than stuffing them down my dogs throat. In the long run, I replaced these with the ground flaxseed powder from the same manufacturer, which was much, much easier to dispense. I do think, however, that the combination of Lignans and Melatonin seems to have helped my 13 year old dog with suspected Cushing's disease.

Helps my old dog with Cushings, naturally. Better than meds prescribed by vet, which cost far more and have negative side effects. This natural remedy does not have side effects and my dog is doing well at age 15, considering the Cushings disease. She still has no hair loss and muscle weakness is very slow to progress. She has been on spruce lignans and melatonin for 9 months now and is still quite active for her age, can run and play although for shorter periods of time than before she was diagnosed with Cushings.

I've been giving my boy this along with melatonin for a few months now and noticed a decrease in his excessive drinking and urination. I hope they restock the 40mg HMR Lignans soon because we've run out and I haven't been able to find a replacement.

Highly recommended in many circles, including veterinary. It can take up to 4 months to see any effects. We've only been on this for 3 weeks (my dog, actually), so there's nothing positive to note, except that she hasn't had any digestive issues on the product.

Life saving medication.Our boxer had hormone imbalance due to getting spayed. We originally were paying hundreds of dollars to the vet for silbestrol as it regulated this and kept her from frequent urination. Once we put her on this it worked wonders. We suspect she may also have Cushings disease and this also helps greatly control any symptoms. Used in conjunction with the melatonin she is back to her old self and so is our pocketbook.Give it a shot!
