Serves its purpose on carpeted stairs. I used curtain retaining rods to tighten the protector on each steps. You need nails, tape, glue or something to avoid the wrinkling affect and to give it a smooth appearance. The rods work well for me. I think this material would slide on bare steps. This protector will retain dirt from shoes or dirty feet, so we remove our shoes before going upstairs. Would be nice to have a selection of colors along with a decrease in price. The material feels like a thin, soft, foam cushion. Very thin. (30x15 covered 12 steps. I had to purchase more to cover the other 4 steps).

It does serve its purpose, but it’s a bit expensive for a long piece of felt. It doesn’t stay put and moves easily. I thought it would have been thicker and more substantial

I bought this to go over my carpeted stairs to help minimize the wear in the center of the steps. I was surprised just how well it actually clings to the carpet! It stays in place very well. I would definitely buy again and would recommend.

I've used this to protect carpet from dirty shoes, pets, scratches etc. It comes in different sizes but I buy the longest roll and cut to the size needed. I wash in a cold water light wash and either air dry or dryer on low. They've lasted for years.
