After my A.O Smith water heater heat pump quit working I called Lowe's for an buyer protection contract service visit, but they just decided to give me a store credit for the purchase price instead. However, a new one now cost $1,000 more than I paid 3 short years ago. So I called A.O Smith on their 10 year warranty but they gave me the runaround and referred me back to Lowe's. Decided to diagnose the heater myself and found the heat pump compressor run capacitor reading at only 1.5 microfarad of 12 microfarad specified on the capacitor. Ordered a capacitor from another supplier that shipped via USPS and it was delayed several times and tracking showed it going across the country twice. Ordered this capacitor with Amazon delivery and got it 12 hours later. Amazon delivery is the best. I've always had issues with USPS and from now on if it's not being delivered by Amazon I'm cancelling the order and finding another supplier. Anyway, as you can see in my thermal video the heat pump is working again.

I purchased this capacitor expecting a reliable 12 µF unit, but unfortunately the quality is very poor. When I tested it, it only measured 6.7 µF, which is far from the rated value. Additionally, there is a noticeable rattling sound inside, which clearly indicates a defect or internal damage. This is not something you would expect from a new capacitor. I will be returning this product. It also does not justify its price at all
