OEM is the way to go with the insides!
If you want the best results you have to OEM. Is there a difference between Kohler and a cheap knockoff? In this case yes! Tried a really cheap knockoff and it leaked. Replaced with the OEM part and the performance is unmistakable. The Kohler San Rafael toilet is a unique and complex toilet and needs the manufacturer's original parts to function properly but then again I'm not a plumber.

OEM flapper as advertised
OEM part. Instructions could have been a little clearer to note to slide out and back in the stick section. Also, the instruction said to use no more than 3 links, for my toilet, I needed to install at the 5th link. Happy with the quality of the replacement and figured out install so will give high marks for product

Flapper fits and works perfectly
I liked that the flapper included a new chain plus new post for installation; it took 5 minutes to replace the old one which had degraded and was leaking. If your toilet bowl is running constantly and the flapper looks bad try using one of these to replace it before calling a plumber.

Great product, but the instructions could be clearer.
Genuine Kohler product, not a knock-off. Had to replace two at once and wasn't looking forward to the "tank trauma." Pay attention to the visual instructions on the back of the package. Otherwise, you might think the item snaps into place; instead, it slides from right to left (depending on whether you have a right flush or left flush model). Also, when you trim the pull chain to fit, don't get confused by the instruction that states "no more than three links" dangling. In reality, what it means is, if there are more than three dangling (and on the Rialto there will be), cut the excess of or the dangle could get caught between the flapper and the drain seat, and that will cause the toilet to run continuously. In short, if you do it right the first time, it will take less than 5 minutes.

Seek help!
The flap will work perfectly once you run your finger around the flush valve rim that it sits on. I had not done this and the newly installed fill valve was refilling intermittently which meant water was leaking through the flap.I watched the Kholer video about how to install the flap, looked inside the toilet, felt around the rim under the flap and sure enough, there was irregularly… maybe lime scale, debris. I just gently rubbed the rim with the tip of my rubber glove until it felt smooth… no sanding/abrasion. Problem fixed!!!! No more intermittent refilling! Also, as described in the video, I made sure the chain was taut by attaching the hook two links in. Did the trick!

Perfect fit
I was happy to buy this on Amazon instead of running over to Home Depot.

NEVER use Generic parts - it ended up costing me a fortune!
I replaced the flapper on my Kohler by going to Home Depot and buying a generic flapper because the salesperson said it was identical to the Kohler replacement which they didn't have in stock. I replaced the flapper and 3 months later - because the unit was empty - I had no idea it was still running. It turns out - the generic flapper kept getting stuck and allowing the water to run. This was a very costly mistake. I ordered the OEM on Amazon - replaced it in minutes and now all is good! NEVER will I purchased generic parts again! - a $7 repair costs me HUNDREDS of dollars in wasted water!
