DIY Quartz Wall Clock Movement Mechanism Replacement DIY Repair Parts by Battery

Perfect replacement for my designer wall clock and saved buying a whole new clock. Good quality and works perfectly.

Needed a new clock mechanism for large outside wall clock. This one was perfect, arrived on time, fitted exactly into clock housing and has kept good time ever since. So far so good

Unfortunately, my wall clock stopped working. I thought it was the battery so I put a new battery in but it still didn’t work. I managed to get a part number off the back of the quarts movement and looked on Amazon and found this one. I thought it was a direct replacement but unfortunately it wasn’t although my small hand had a round hole and fitted. My big hand had a round hole but the movement had a square shaft. I realised that I could make the Round hole into a square hole using a square needle file that I had. Having made the round hole square the big hand fitted fine. The noise level is low and it keeps good time. I believe that it is good value for money and I found it was fairly easy to fit.

I had a clock that after several years stopped working. Although a cheap battery clock it was a design I really liked, and this unit allowed me to repair it, and keep the old clock going. It was an easy fit, but a couple of words of warning, check the sizes, some for sale will not fit every clock. Check especially the length of the shaft. A long shaft may not fit a thin clock. Next, I had to trim the length of the minute hand as it was too long for the clock face. Easy to do with sissors, but be aware.

Receivved the unit next day after placing order and it fits the clock well. The only problem is the hands that are supplied with the clock. The hour hand fits OK but there is no way that the minute hand is going to fit. The instructions (#8) say "Lightly press the minute hand in place". Well there is no way that is going to happen, the hole is far too small for the shaft. I could try drilling the hole to make it larger but if it doesn't work I've wasted £8.99 on a useless bit of kit. I can't understand why the manufacturer/supplier would supply clock hands with the unit and one of them doesn't fit. I now have to return the item to Amazon and look for an alternative. What a pain and waste of time it is to have to keep returning items due to the manufacturer not bothering to send the proper parts. I see from other reviews that I am not alone in encountering this problem so I can't recommend. It's a pity but if it wasn't for the wrong hand this replacement would have fitted my clock perfectly. Update: Tried to drill the minute hand which was not successful so I wouldn't recommend this. However, the supplier did make contact and offer to refund the cost so I was not out of pocket. It's a pity this mistake happened as the Quartz movement seems to work perfectly. Because of the customer service I have upgradedthe review to 4 stars. If they do get the problem with the hands sorted out I'm sure they will get 5 star reviews.
