This thing is powerful and sturdy
My old disposal leaked and ruined my cabinet floor, I almost didn't want to put a new one back in. But I got this one because it did not cost much and my wife insisted on having one. Well it's been a year and this thing is great, no problem whatsoever, glad I did. It's probably more powerful than I needed, this thing is powerful, but surprisingly quiet. Easy to install, came with everything I needed. Don't think I'll need a new one for a long while

Good price
This waste disposal is solid and gets the job done without any issues. It handles food scraps easily and runs pretty quietly. Installation was simple and it makes cleaning up after cooking much easier.

Does not come with plumbers putty.
Beware, does not come with plumbers putty. Easy to install due to being lightweight. Seems to do the job quietly. It does make a harsh sound when it first starts up just the grinders. I will say it seems great for the price.

Excellent value. Huge upgrade from the Insinkerator it replaced.
I've now purchased two of these, one for our home and one for our rental property. Both of them replaced the Insinkerator Badger units that builders seem to always use. I'm beyond impressed with the Waste Maid. If you currently have an Insinkerator, the install for the Waste Maid will be unbelievably simple. The mount is identical, so you can just unscrew the old unit and screw this one in place. This unit weighs about half of what the Insinkerator does, which makes getting it aligned less of a struggle. This unit is *extremely* quiet compared to the unit it replaced. If there's no waste in the disposal, it's actually hard to tell if it's running or not. Power seems perfectly adequate for a normal family application. We haven't tried chicken bones or anything, but it's handled all the ordinary food waste without incident. Considering this might be the least expensive unit available at the moment, it's hard to come up with a reason to look at anything else.

Better option.
Easy install. Love the thinner profile. Seems to clog less and grind more quietly. Love it.

Waste Maid 10-US-WM-058-3B Garbage Disposal - 7 Months of Use Review
The TLDR First: It runs great. Isn't too loud. Solid built. Compact compared to most. Chops surprisingly well for its 1/2 hp. After 7 months continuous use in a household of 2 adults I have no complaints. I am still very satisfied with my choice. Factor in the very affordable price point and you've got yourself a solid buy. I give it my full recommendation (for what it's worth) with no caveats - which is rare for me. More details: I was initially concerned a 1/2 hp unit (of any brand) would be a little under powered making me wish I ponied up for a 3/4 or even a 1 hp unit. However, I was on a strict budget and wanted to conserve space, which the higher hp units can cost twice as much and be twice the size (comparing all brands 1/2 hp to their 1 hp offerings). After reading up about modern disposals, I learned that a decent quality 1/2 hp unit should be plenty for my use profile (2 adults that cook most our own meals - but we don't get crazy). As long as I don't try to grind up a whole turkey in it or abuse the life out of it, it should suffice, to be clear. And indeed, it has. In fact, if I went with a 1 hp unit instead, I would have purchased far more machine than I needed while wasting money and valuable space doing so. I installed it myself which was pretty straight forward and turned out perfect, but I wouldn't recommend self-install unless you're the handy type and perhaps have replaced/fixed any under sink drain sections before. But if you are comfortable doing something like replacing a P trap or leaky sink drain flange on your own then this will be well in your skill set range. If I was going to have installed, I would probably have looked for a handyman on thumbtack with basic plumbing skills. It would be dramatically cheaper than a plumber. Just my opinion, not a recommendation. It's rather quiet for being a disposal and doesn't vibrate the whole sink, which I was super impressed with. Note - I grew up in a household with a disposal that lasted from before I was born to well after I was grown and out of the house, and it always just worked, but it was loud, I mean dumptruck-crashing-into-nitroglycerin-plant level of loud. And it shook the entire sink and counter. So my bar for comparison might be a little skewed. Maybe I'll check in here at 1.5 - 2 years of use and gives an update. The only thing it has to prove now is longevity. I won't expect 20+ years out of it like the old one my parents had, but that one was made before “planned obsolescence” became the standard and consumers didn't really push back, but that is a different discussion.

Recomiendo
