Moriyama?
People dumped all over this little camera when it came out, and that was a mistake. The complaints were valid, but missed the point of this camera. It is a great little camera and perfect to use for doing street photography when you want to channel your inner Daido Moriyama. The price has come down if you look (April 2026) treat is like a point and shoot, and shoot with the cameras "look" in mind and you will not be disappointed.

This camera is a Blast !!! I love it
Love, love, love this camera…. Forget the negative reviews that were posted before the final release, this camera brings back extra fun into photography. The system of shooting film and not knowing if you got the shot, then developing the film on you device, I use an iPad Pro… and watching it go from a proof sheet of negatives to positives in minutes blows me away. Look, it’s not a 100F or newer and it’s pretty much bare bones but darn it…. It’s a BLAST!! Make sure you use the film advance lever when shooting in film mode!.. I have shot about 20 rolls of “film” so far and it’s great, the digital images are crisp as well. Defensively worth the bucks!

Nice novelty camera but…
Does everything it says it does. It’s definitely a niche camera. The phone app is about 80 percent operational. Takes good pics and the ability to change films and filters and other camera settings on the back screen is cool. Love seeing the film type in its own little window, like old school cameras. My only complaint is the “winder” in that it doesn’t have much tension. Doesn’t make any sort of noise either. For the price they could’ve made it a little more tactile friendly.

Poor execution
The idea is superb but the execution falls very short. I had it for a few weeks and really tried to love it, then I tried to just like and finally gave up. Just because I love Fuji and have been supporting them for years, doesn’t mean I have to like or agree with everything they do. Sadly the camera has too many compromises: -Unable to save favorite filters and quickly switch between them. -The photometry is not good and there’s no way to adjust it. -The OVF is basically useless. No information, not even frame lines. -Unable to select a specific ISO and stick to it when shooting in film mode. I love shooting jpeg only but I just can’t with the X Half. The image quality is very subpar: it will blowup the highlights and it was ZERO dynamic range. You’re probably on a corner saying, well you’re missing the point, it’s not about image quality, it’s about having fun! —That’s the problem, you won’t have much fun because it has too many shortcomings. On top of that, images are soft and you cannot even get to iso 800 as the images quickly start falling apart. My honest recommendation: get yourself a Fuji x-e2 or newer, and a third party pancake lens with AF. You’ll be spending about the same and you will love your images as well as the experience.

More fun than I thought it would be!
I'm a professional photographer for the last 25 years. I know gear...have used most of what is out there. This is not a professional camera, this is not a toy...it falls some where in the middle. It is meant for experience, but it can give you good image quality as well. Don't believe the YouTubers or paid influencers...they don;t understand this camera for what it is and who it was made for. I've been using it daily for a few weeks now and it can be a wonderful coat pocket or small backpack pouch camera.
