A life saver no more being a doorman at 4am for our cat
This has been installed a couple of weeks now and it has been well worth the money. I decided to fully install it myself and just about managed with hand tools on a UPVC door, so if you aren't at all handy then you would best be hiring someone to do that for you. Setting it up with the wifi hub was straight forward but just so you are aware the hub is connected via lan cable to your router at all times so make sure you have enough ports on your router. We have our hub by the front door and the cat flap is in the back door and there's a wall and a couple of meters between them and we haven't had any connection problems. Setting up the cat's microchip was easy and posed no problems. Our cat wouldn't use the cat flap at first which is what we expected so it took a lot of coercion (treats/food) and nudging but he got there quicker than we thought he would because he is so used to us being his doormen and would just sit by a door and window and meow until we let him in but we didn't cave in as we showed him that the only way in and out is through the cat flap which meant that if he wasn't going to use it we would go outside and coerce him to use it and the same for if he wanted to leave the house. This has now meant that he has learned that he can get in and out using the cat flap on his own so now I'm not having to get up at silly o'clock to let him out. He is a stubborn cat and still after 2 weeks comes to the front door and windows but if we ignore him we'll here him clambering through the cat flap followed by a meow on the app. My only criticisms with the cat flap so far is the very slight delay in the flap opening and how strong the magnet/resistance is which means that there is a few Harry has looked out of the cat flaps before he finally goes through and on occasion it takes 2 attempts for him to go through which shows on the app as him exiting twice at the same time, so if you don't have a particularly strong cat be aware. In regards to the app it is great because you can control the cat flap functions ie in only/out only and the curfew which is why we initially purchased this cat flap. Because we have been letting our cat use the cat flap carte blanche so that he gets used to it we haven't used the curfew feature yet but will start slowly introducing it soon (hopefully it doesn't confuse him) but to be honest I'm not sure if we will need to use it at the moment because the app shows that now that he is pretty much used to it he is in during the night and doesn't go out til about 3:30am which we are ok with at the moment. The app has been great as well for these first few weeks because we have been able to see our cat's progress and we know he has been using the cat flap whereas with a traditional one we wouldn't have known that he was using it as much. The app is great because we can see how much time he spends outside and the times he goes out and comes back in and in the app as well if your cat does manage to go out/in through a door or window you can change it yourself in the app so it doesn't wreck your stats too much. And now that he is used to it we have started seeing patterns so when it comes to setting up the curfew functions we can bare them in mind. The app and cat flap function perfectly fine and the only thing that I can see at the moment that need adding is the function to change the notification sound with in the app so that it can vibrate or play a different sound other than a cat meowing. I highly recommend this product as it functions perfectly fine for my purposes and I can now get a full nights sleep.

Great for peace of mind
We already had the microchip Surecare cat flap so fitting it was easy as it was one out and one in. The instructions show you step by step how to cut the hole and the dimensions required, so it would be easy enough to do if you haven't got an existing hole. The purchase was an upgrade so we can lock the cat flap at night if we're out keeping Bramble in. She knows how it works, and the fact it does a little click let's her know it's open, and it is easy for her to use, the magnet ones were too stiff for her to push whereas this one like the microchip version, has catches that drop (making the little click) and leaving the door to swing freely. The catches click back up when she's gone through. The connectivity from the hub to the catflap was easy to set up. The hub is in the living room and the catflap is two rooms away and it reaches well. There is a sold wall between them and it still reaches well. We tested it by taking the catflap upstairs before we fitted it and it still reached. I can't comment on the battery life, but if it's the same or similar to the microchip catflap it'll be fine and the red light flashes to let you know when it's time to change and there's a battery level induction the app. It's handy knowing if Bramble is in or out, we do have to remember to change the status manually of she goes out through the door though, because if we're in she'd rather stare at the door than use the flap....because she is a pampered princess! The notifications come through in a timely manner so the catflap does everything we hoped. It is a bit on the expensive side for a cat flap, but the peace of mind it gives knowing she can't get back out after 5pm is worth it and we can easily change the curfew time as the nights get lighter in the app. My husband's set it up to work with home assistant and is hoping to get it syncing with Google, but it's a bit more tricky than he thought.

Best on the market, with its limitations
Bought a few months ago when I needed to keep Kitten in whilst allowing Big Cat to come and go as she pleased. I am impressed by the accuracy of the flap and the way it can tell whether a cat is going in or out, the timeline on the app is very useful as it allows you to see your cat’s habits and what is going on when you are not in. Obviously it is not foolproof and can’t tell you if a cat has entered or left the house by another means, but it’s easy to tell the app if a cat does leave the house through a door etc. I like to keep my cats in at night and so the curfew function is the most helpful aspect, and can easily be changed so at the moment I am altering the times every so often as the days get shorter. The main drawback is that Big Cat can hook her claw under the flap and open it to leave even when the flap is electronically locked after curfew time. This obviously renders the curfew function much less useful. To keep her indoors at night I therefore have to use the manual lock, but that obviously requires a) me to be at home to do so and b) for both cats to have come indoors. It would be better if the flap was more robustly designed to prevent this from happening. If you have had a cat flap before it’s worth mentioning that any cats you have might take some adjusting to this one because they have to stick their heads very close to the flap for it to register their microchip and open. Big Cat age 4 took awhile to get used to this whereas Kitten doesn’t know any different. But overall I am pleased, and it is worth the peace of mind to know the cats are coming and going.

Let's unknown cats in and traps them in your home - DO NOT BUY
Would give zero stars if I could - DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. This expensive product has let unknown cat into my property repeatedly and does not have the basic function much cheaper products have of letting unknown cats out so I have had many a disturbed night having to get up and let an unknown cat out. Whereas some unknown cats can get in by tailgating and other cat flaps also don't have any ability to stop this they have the function of letting the unknown cat out. HOWEVER due to the hub I can clearly see this product letting the unknown cat in when my cats are already inside so not via tailgating. So it fails it's basic function of controlling access. Have spent too much time with the seller blaming it on my cats and its location - they are saying it cannot be within 2 meters of any electrical equipment - this would suggest to me again it is not fit for a home - so not as advertised. They did supply a replacement but same issues so have had the cost of 2 installations as well as a flap that does not do as advertised. DO NOT BUY.

Safe and secure so far
We’ve had this for almost a week now. Fortunately we had a Sureflap catflap already so fitting was easy. The wifi side of things - you have to get the bundle of catflap and wifi hub otherwise there’s no point. (This does make it expensive so shop around and check for deals). Anyway as to usage, our wifi is very good and our hub is nearish the catflap area, though in a nearby room, so maybe that helps? We’re very happy with it. We bought it to set our 2 younger cats curfew (the oldest doesn’t need one) and for it to work while we’re away on holiday. Although we have someone coming in, it’s for peace of mind and convenience for all. Well, it works great. You have to download an app which will tell you when they’re in or out. It will set up a timeline for you. The app sends a notification (a pop up and a meow) when the catflap is activated and the cat ears will blink on exit or entrance. The curfew timer works great. We have one at 6am to open and 7pm to lock. It has only been less than a week of usage but so far we’re happy with it. I may update this review in a couple of months time if I have problems but so far so good.

Very good Cat flap!
Well made cat flap. The app works well, not glitchy. If you want to keep an eye on your Cat(s) coming and going this product does this very well. It uses 4 AA batteries. You can expect to replace batteries every 3-4 months. I have 2 cats. The more cats you have the faster your batteries will run down. The flap itself is very well made, very weather proof. You will probably need to resize or get a new hole cut to fit the flap. So installation is not straight forward, you will ned to factor this into you expense. The flap is well insulated so when the flap is shut it is not excessively draughty and the exterior noise insulation is also good. The plastic is good quality so it has weathered very well so far. No discolouration over the first wet winter and decently sunny summer. So its still looking fresh in the door!

Fails to live up to the price or the promise
At the price, I'd expect it to deliver all its promises. At a basic level, it works - your designated cat/s can come and go and you can set curfew times remotely via your smartphone. But please, read the App store reviews, and read the privacy policy. The first, serious, failure is that it fails to record when my cat exits. When the cat goes out it records as "looked through the cat flap", or even as "entered". I have observed the cat going out through the flap, he pushes it open in the normal way, but there is never any record of an exit. So that means all the stuff about it telling me whether the cat is in or out, and building a profile of his habits over time, none of that stuff works - the system thinks my cat is permanently indoors, and moreover enters the house several times a day. See screenshot from the App. The App absolutely requires you to "consent" to direct marketing. This is not what "consent" means. And the privacy policy tells you they will sell your data - as if you didn't pay enough for the device already. The App only works via the Internet - there is no local network mode. This has implications for your network security, which is now only as good as the Hub's. IoT devices are not famed for their security. It also means that your very expensive cat flap only works as advertised so long as their server is up and running, which is not always. Moreover, they could introduce a paid subscription model at any time - which might explain why you are forced to "consent" to direct marketing. Or they could exit the market and shut down operations - numerous bigger names have done exactly that leaving owners with a defunct product. There is very little gain for having the Hub exposed to the internet. It does mean you can interact with it whilst away from home, which is seldom a pressing requirement. But the server connection presents no additional functionality. For example, I would want to set the curfew dusk till dawn - not possible. I'd like to also set curfew during rush-hours Mon-Fri - not possible. Or maybe even set up some curfew profiles that I could cycle through as the seasons changed - not possible. All you can do is set and edit fixed curfew timings. Neither is there any Alexa integration, no extra smarts, nothing. As to the WiFi connectivity, there isn't any. The hub has to be connected to your router via ethernet cable. That's right - the hub connects to your router via a physical cable - unless you plan on laying some cable and drilling walls, the hub is going to be fixed just a short cable's distance from your router. The flap talks to the hub over battery power using MQTT wireless protocol, not wifi. But even if you accept “wifi” as a generic term for the wireless link, the point is that link is battery powered, needing the hub to be in proximity to the flap, preferably direct line of sight, with no thick walls or large white goods in the way (they tell you this). Unless your router is conveniently close to your kitchen, and your kitchen is without a fridge or dishwasher, you could struggle with a typical kitchen door installation. It's the hub itself which ought to be connected to the router by wifi, so requiring only an electric socket near the installed flap for the hub placement. The mains powered hub itself being mains powered could maintain a strong enough WiFi signal without chewing through batteries in the attempt. The flap cares little for your heating bills. There are gaps around the flap, the draught excluders don’t meet the sides of the aperture. If you have a thermal IR camera the flap appears as just one big empty hole in your door. The flap makes strange solenoid clicking noises when I swing the door in which it is installed (see video). It does not appear to affect its operation, but must be consuming battery, and does nothing for conficence in the product. All in, this feels very much a beta-release, in desperate need of fettling on all fronts (mechanical and electrical design, software integration) to bring it into alignment with price expectations. Update: I've worked around both the network security issue and the WiFi problem by connecting my hub, via ethernet (the only option), not to the router but to a separate access point instead. The access point then connects to my router over its guest WiFi network, isolating the whole circus from the home network. Update May 2025 Nothing has improved. It still thinks my cat stays in all day every day. Still no way to vary curfew by day of week or sunrise/set times. Seriously the manufacturers DGAF once they've taken your money. Update November 2025 I've got an extra cat. No problem adding the newcomer, but the catflap is still unable to clock him going out, which still registers as "looked through the flap" just as with the original cat. So it's not a quirk of how the cat navigate the cat flap, it just straight-up does not work properly. Also, now with 2 cats, I've become aware that you can't set separate access schedules per cat. It's one size fits all. You can set per-cat door lock, but not time schedules. The strange clicking noise (see video) has never gone away, so it's safe to assume there is no firmware upgrades happening over time.

Took a long time for our cat to use it
I fitted this flap in to our 16" thick external utility room wall along with 5x tunnel extenders in April 2019. If you know what you're doing it's quite easy, but can take a long time . Our hub is placed about 10m from the flap so I was worried there would be communication issues but to my surprise it worked fine. To make things even more confusing for our cat I also added another basic cat-flap in to our internal kitchen door so he would be able to get in to the room where the SureFlap is. The process of teaching him was painful using treats etc and holding the doors open with tape, plus he had to learn how to get through 2 cat flaps :) By the end of June 2019 he was able to get out by himself. However, despite trying everything we could think of he just wouldn't come back in through the SureFlap. He didn't even attempt to try it. Then at the very beginning of November 2019 he was out in heavy rain at night. He magically appeared in our bedroom and every day since he has used the door more and more. So what do we think of the SureFlap? Well, you have to look at it as 3 products; The SureFlap, the Hub and the phone app. The SureFlap:- This is a well made piece of kit and used with the extenders is fantastic in external walls. We clean the door and tunnel every 2 weeks to make sure it's working and clean. The Hub:- This simply allows communication between the SureFlap and your Sure Petcare account. We were surprised by the range of this. Bear in mind you have to plug it in to your router or network switch. It does not use wifi (something the manufacturers need to provide). The HUB has lit up ears which mean different things depending on their colour and frequency of flashing. We've had to switch the hub on/off 2-3 times since we've had it. The App:- The phone app is brilliant and now our cat goes in/out by himself. You can see if/when your cat is in/out, graphs etc. You can also check the status of the SureFlap such as battery and signal from hub to SureFlap. Summary... Other than rebooting the hub a couple of times when we got flashing red lights, we've had no issues at all. We were concerned that the SureFlap wouldn't pick up our cat's microchip and I did ask our vet if we might get problems. The vet simply said as long as the chip has been placed in the correct location at the back of the neck between the shoulder blades there should be no issue. We also trust it enough to go away for a few days and our neighbour simply puts down food/water. If you're cat doesn't use the flap either in and/or out, be patient. Keep opening the flap for them. Cats are weird :)

Life saver
Definitely a life saver, extremely impressive and easy to install. We have an automatic feeder with WiFi / camera for if or when we leave on short trips. Unfortunately the day after we left on a longer two week trip, I saw on the camera a stray cat chasing my cat away and eating all her food - every day. I couldn’t do anything as I watched my cat starve (not really starve, cats are survivors but what an inconvenience for her). That’s when I purchased this great product and a pellet gun! Easy to install, easy for my cat to use (only my cat can access her room), great app that’s easy to use, with lots of extra features including notifications and tracking. My kitty now has her own safe space without having to wear a collar that could possibly get hung up or lost. Absolutely love this product and highly recommend it. It made my new pellet gun completely not needed. See? It saved my cats life from starving by giving her a safe space and her own food. And it also saved that overly aggressive stray bully cats life that was taking her food for herself. Life saver!!!! Anybody what an unused pellet gun?

Clever technology.
Clever piece of kit. Longer battery life (months not weeks). Change settings remotely using App, and also you know if cats are going in and out (see picture). You have to purchase the complete internet kit for this to work. The app is a bit clunky but works. Peace of mind as you know whether your cats are inside or outside.
