Lady

To preface this review, I will admit that I am not one to review (not only can I not do, I also cannot review). Aside from that, this is an album that must be heard.Lady came to my attention as a suggestion via ("yours truly") Amazon. Out of curiosity, I clicked on the link and listened to the available samples. My attention was immediately taken a hold of. The lead singers weave a harmonious tapestry; their voices the perfect juxtaposition between soft and streetwise. Terri Walker's gentle expressions make for a perfect undertone to Nicole Wray's sinewy echelon of vocal intensity.Reaching into the annals of musical history, taking everything from 60s pop, to 60s and 70s R&B and funk, Lady has encrypted modern times with a tiny piece of auditory brilliance. Despite the throwback stylings of the album in its entirety, Lady stays thoroughly modern in their approach. The backing band is absolute perfection, giving the sound of a live jam bumping your windows almost out of their settings.This is music at its best: both modern and reminiscent.Lady come highly recommended on all levels. But, if you are a fan of other modern musicians and bands such as Lee Fields and The Expressions, Alice Smith, Charles Bradley and His Extraodinaires, Sharon Jones and The Dap Kings, Amy Winehouse, Quadron, et al (in similar fashion), then certainly acquire this lovely album.My favourite album of 2013 (with Alice Smith's "SHE" and Quadron's "Avalanche" making a stiff tie for 2nd place).

Awesome through back CD! A gritty, urban sound. Reminds me of old Lauren Hill sounds. A few of the numbers sound too similar but over all a great soulful CD

Love,love, love this band. I sought them out when I heard Karma as the closing song on True Blood.

So many soul albums slip past without comment or any notice, please do not let this happen to this one. From the first few bars of the openning track it's clear where the roots lie and makes you want to dig out all of the classic Motown sounds.Buy this and while you're at it try and track down the Queen Emily CD - classic stax soul from this decade!!

Great music, funky, soulful, perfect for playing in the garden on a sunny day, lady is actually 2 ladies, so it's twice as nice!Highly recommended to anyone who appreciates a decent tune!

Great album so retro think of any of your favourite female singers and you get hints of them all, very good album recommend with Karma being the best track in my opinion
