The mailbox and post are both sturdy and look aesthetically pleasing. The unit replaced our hard plastic mailbox which did not hold up well over time. The most difficult part of the installation is the 4” x 4” wooden post that you need to erect before slipping the mailbox/post over the wooden post. The standard mailbox is actually much larger than your typical mailbox, so, for most people, there is no need to upgrade the size (a standard magazine can lay flat in the mailbox). There is a minimal amount of drilling required. I do suggest that: 1) the product description included the height of the post; and 2) the company would allow us to order the custom plaques online. I had to call customer service for an issue (my issue—not the manufacturer’s), and they picked up right away and responded to a special request I made. The custom address plaques arrived quickly and look great. The surface of the post died scratch easily, so be careful when handling and installing. We purchased the optional base for the post, which I recommend. It protects the underlying wood post from the elements and looks great.

This is my second purchase of a mailbox from this company for our current and prior home. It’s sooo much nicer than what you find at the local big-box stores! If you already have a 4x4 post set in the ground, as I did from my old box, this is literally a 10 minute install. If not, then it’s a little more work but totally worth it. Well built, nice magnetic close, and the custom address plates that they make are classy without being overly flashy.

This is the sturdiest mailbox. I got tired of replacing mailboxes every few years so decided to pay more for a lasting mailbox. Reading the reviews this seemed like a good product. It certainly didn’t disappoint. Beautiful and sturdy. Seems all my neighbors feel the same as I now see this mailbox at multiple houses near me.

This mailbox is handsome and fits our home perfectly. The plaques sign-up sheet did not come with our package from Amazon; however, I called Whitehall directly and their customer service team was on top of it and we expect to receive our plaques within a week's time. I would recommend this product and their team over and over again.

I installed the mailbox myself and saved the $400 which was a fee for installation. I think most people can install this themselves. It’s a bit physical. I dug a 3 foot hole approximately 8 inches around put my 4 x 4 into that hole and poured concrete almost to the top of ground Level of the 4 x 4 and let it set overnight. The assembly of the mailbox itself is rather my minor. You can see from the video the un result. It’s nice and sturdy. There is quite a bit of federal regulations regarding the height, distant from curb, etc. I went to my local post office and asked for advice. They said I receive curb side service and I should get the box as close to the curb without going over the curb as possible. This makes it very easy for the mailman to deliver. I recommend you check your local post office for the measurements.

Beautiful well made, solid mailbox. A bit of a pain to install, but worth the time and effort. I also purchased an address plaque. Being in a hurry I assumed it was a set, one for each side. Nope. Pony up, you have to buy two. Would have helped if the manufacturer made 'what you get' clear.

Beautiful mailbox. Didn’t want any of the ones that you can buy in the store. I wanted something that would bring beauty to the yard which it does. I also love the fact that it is big enough to hold many packages. Definitely worth the extra money!!

I absolutely LOVE this mailbox! I took the time to really do a nice install (concrete, small pad below collar) and am just loving it! Strongly urge you to buy the optional collar, it adds a great stylish flare. And the Amazon cost is definitely the best available on the internet. So excited for when the address plaques show up from manufacturer (they are included but are made and shipped separate). HINT...when installing, you can make minor adjustments to plumb of metal post (which is hollow) by putting loose sand inside the metal post sleeve while holding it plumb, then dump water into the sleeve to settle the sand between the wood post and the metal sleeve in a plumb position. Worked like a charm. Dont have to fill it to top with sand...just to top of wood post (recommended 18 inches above grade...I was a bit higher). GREAT PURCHASE...EXCELLENT QUALITY...WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
