The inside of the front piece is essentially a leather strop and due to how tight it is on even a 1/12th inch thick knife means every time you pull the knife out it strops one side of the edge, the sharper you keep your knife the quicker the edge forms a burr on the opposite side from unsheathing the knife. This combined with its too tight fit, overall cheap quality( even for the price) and flimsy feel make this a no go. The leather itself is good quality so I'm going to break this down and use it to make a couple of small field strops out of the pieces.

I purchased this sheath for my 8" Old Hickory butcher knife. It fits the knife quite well but the strap will not retain the knife due to the shape of the handle. Not a complaint, just a fact. It is constructed of real leather (probably cowhide) and steel rivets. It will fit on a 2" wide belt and could easily be made to fit a wider one. The workmanship is good. Over all the sheath serves my purpose and I am quite satisfied with it considering the cost.

I love this little cover. I needed it to protect my fish knife which has to be kept super sharp. It's a perfect size and the price was unbelievable. Highly recommend it.
