It's cheap and that's ok for me
Honestly more than I expected. Looks just fine over my book case and it's a hit at parties when sabering a champagne bottle. Can't say I'd buy it again but I'm not sure I'd need to.

What is this Display Sword made up of? Unsharpenable Stainless Steel ?
This Sword is Perfect for Display purposes. The blade is shinny Pointy & it's put together rather well. However it is not Stainless Steel. It is Zamak: Zamak Is an alloy primarily used by a company called Denix. It is comprised of 95% zinc (Zn), aluminum, magnesium and copper. Swords made from this alloy are purely decorative, and try as hard as you like you can not put a functional edge on them. This makes them, among other things, the perfect display sword for family or educational environments. These are very low maintenance swords. They will not corrode, nor will they etch from human oils.

You get what you pay for: not much.
I bought this as an accessory to a "pirate" costume, and, quite frankly, got what I paid for. I.e. not much.Cons:1) The entire sword (and metal parts of the scabbard) are rife with machining marks. The blade itself shows a diagonal crosshatch satin finish -- totally inauthentic. If you want a sword that looks "real" out of the box, look elsewhere.2) The sword blade and tang don't fit perfectly into the hilt, thus it rattles a bit when struck.3) I don't know what the fittings are made of, but sanding/filing/polishing yields first a copper, then a silver or "white" metal. This creates difficulties if you're trying to refinish this weapon.4) The scabbard seems to have no lining; as such, the blade fits very loosely therein and is offered virtually no protection from damp. This is probably the most serious flaw, as I can think of no remedy save making an entirely new scabbard. The pros:1) If you don't care about looks, this sword is a great deal at well under $100 USD. The short (~23 inch) blade is perfect for a naval cutlass of any era. Out of the box, you can get by with this as an acceptable costume piece.2) The blade seems to be of very soft temper. Normally this is a bad thing in a sword, but in this case, it means one can rework the blade -- and give it a nice, authentic-looking shine -- with relative ease. (The hilt seems to be much harder than the blade!) I've been scuffing/filing/sanding/polishing mine to simulate the effects of heavy use & get rid of the entirely inauthentic satin finish. Really, just a few passes with 400-600 grit sandpaper would do the trick.3) =If= you're willing and able to put a little bit of elbow grease into your purchase, you'll have a very good stage or costume prop for a relatively low price. I'm treating this as a "sword blank" and as such am relatively pleased with my purchase, but I'm a hobby jeweler and have most of the requisite tools. If you're not in that position... consider your options, which are admittedly thin on the ground. Conclusion: It does bear repeating: there seem to be relatively few short cutlasses/hangers/etc. on the market. If you're capable of, and have the time for, basic metal working -- this is the sword for you. If you haven't the time & capacity but want a relatively cheap prop that stands up to a cursory glance: go for it! This will get you through Halloween. If you have basic metalworking capacity & want something a little better than a costume sword, this is a good investment. But if you want something that looks authentic out of the box, seriously consider your options, as this would not be a good choice.

Looks real, feels real!
Perfect for cosplay. Not sharp but is pointy ;)Very heavy and always makes people say “wow” after holding it.-1 Star because there is a little wobble from the blade.

What a great little cutlass!
Nice heavy handle and blade, good workmanship, great value for the money. You probably wouldn't survive a real fight with this, for any kind of high-end costume or cosplay this is perfect. The short blade looks even meaner than a longer cutlass I have.

meh
I expected more. The weight is ok, but it looks like a cheap piece of crap. I should have spent the money and bought a cold steel sword.

Very well made.
I first laid eyes upon this piece in a sword shop in Monterey, CA. While I was deciding whether or not to purchase it someone else picked it up. My gf surprised me with this for Valentine's day and I am quite pleased with it. Drawing the blade out of the scabbard makes the iconic movie sound of metal on metal, music to my ears.
