Works as advertised!
Make sure to put one on each end of the cable. This isn't a two pack for two different connections. Both need to be used on the same cable. I did only one end at first and it didn't work. A friend told me I needed to use both and then it worked as advertised.

Sends IR signal down pin 13 like it's supposed to.
This product works with 3.5mm TRS emitters/detectors which are expecting T-power, R-signal, S-ground. If you're not sure what that means, you should consider purchasing Ensigear's full kit, which includes the matching IR components. These adapters work by connecting the IR jack to the lines of the HDMI cable. That's all they do. They contain no active electronics. The product title's implication (at the time of this writing) that the adapters themselves are somehow 'remote controlled' is misleading. If you'd like to make your own emitter and detector cables for use with these adapters, you'll want to know the following:The common of the switch connects to IN pin 13 (CEC)The CEC position of the switch connects to OUT pin 13 (CEC)The IR position of the switch connects to the Ring of the IR jackThe Tip of the IR jack connects to pin 18 (+5V power)The Sleeve of the IR jack connects to pin 17 (CEC ground)With adapters installed on both ends of an HDMI cable, and the switches in the CEC position, the CEC line of the HDMI cable carries the CEC signal from end to end, just as if the adapters were not there. With the switches in the IR position, the CEC line of the HDMI cable instead carries the IR signal between the Ring points on the two IR jacks. As stated in the product description, if the switches are not in the same position, neither CEC nor IR will work. The adapters do not convert IR to CEC or vice versa. They only pass along whichever signal they're switched to.That being said, it's worth noting that a single adapter in IR mode (with nothing attached to the IR jack) is logically also effective at blocking the CEC signal from a device if it is interfering with CEC commands from other components. Considering that this product includes two adapters, and dongles sold for the sole purpose of blocking CEC are about twice the cost, these are economical substitutes. In regard to physical layout, I agree with other Ensigear reviewers that the jack placement can get in the way of your other HDMI ports. You may need a short HDMI extension to make things fit. Also, adding adapters to the ends of your cables could increase the chances of your cables being dislodged. All in all, the adapters are usable for getting an IR signal from one place to another, in exchange for the (switchable) loss of CEC signaling between the devices. They won't magically add CEC capability to your TV, AV Receiver, or DVD player, but they'll work as intended.

Fixed the Apple TV being woken out of sequence when turning on LGTV
Since upgrading my TV to an LG C2 and turning on the cable TV box together with my Denon X3700H I’ve been plagued with my Apple TV being woken by a spurious CEC signal from the LG TV which then hijacks the amp input. By unplugging the HDMI cable to the ATV it temporarily fixed the issue so the plug and play cure is this simple and inexpensive device! My frustrations are over!!

Don't Buy
Does not work for making a PC CEC compatible with my Insignia TV.

Work as promised to eliminate sporadic commands
I have a fairly complicated tv hookup through HDMI splitters sending signals from an Apple TV box and a directv receiver to two televisions. Recently spurious changes started occurring spontaneously in the system. The HDMI input would change on one tv. The other tv would come on by itself. The Apple TV box would shut off mid program. I put one of these gadgets on the directv box hdmi input and the Apple TV box. No more problems!

Perfect for people having ARC issues
It’s a perfect way to pull pin 13 if you are having ARC issues with your TV and an audio pass back device. I used one to lift pin 13 on our cable box to AVR and now the TV and AVR work together.
