Gates T304 Premium Automotive Timing Belt

Perfect fit for my 2005 Subaru forester 2.5x with the ej253 engine. Has alignment marks for installing it correctly the first time. Excellent quality and made in USA.

It’s a nice, American-made Gates timing belt. Fits correctly and Alignment marks were in the right spots. The installation is a bit of work, but that has nothing to do with the belt, but the design of the motor. It is highly recommended to install new pulleys and tensioner if they haven’t been replaced in over 60K miles and also The water and oil pump if they have over 100k miles as well. It is not necessary, but recommended so that you only need to take the front cover apart once.

Its Gates! Always used them when I can. I did not buy the Subaru timing kit, just the belt. After reading all kinds of reviews, unless u buy Subaru factory replacement, I found the belt was the best option. I'm an ASE mechanic, I inspected all the pullies, plus tensioner, and found them to be in excellent shape, good grease, no slop, even the belt looked good-2001 Forester 4cycl, 317000mls, last belt change over 150k miles ago.( car was owned by an elderly couple, regular maintenance.) Felt the pullies were a better risk than the chines pulled that came on almost every kit, water pump was a gamble as to whether you receive the right one and its quality. I also result the tensioner- new fluid, seal. Did all the work myself. So far all is good.

Fits perfect but time will tell. I bought this separately from the Aisin tensioner and NSK bearings/idler. I did not need the water pump which most kits have.

I've been using gates belts for years, it truly is the best belt on the market and I don't run anything else in my vehicles or any of my customers..(retired auto tech)

Belt arrived cut into ,also had no timing marks on belt as advertised product is trash wouldn't recommend buying this item

I put it on the EJ253 in my Outback and the car is running happily with it installed.

Fit great. Too easy to install, make sure to follow factory guidelines, torque specs and don’t be lazy with the install.

Came with lines on the belt to match timing marks and fit perfectly

Belt worked great!!! No problems installing it and the timing marks were bang on!!!!
