Plastic that doesn’t sit flat, and splinters
I could have just bolted my truing stand to the bench, but bought the Park Tool base because it looks handy with compartments for tools etc. It arrived quickly and well packaged, but the plastic was distorted and the base doesn’t sit completely flat. The threaded end caps (that replace those supplied with the TS-2.2P truing stand) are meant to push in, but the fit is far too tight. The instructions indicate use of a rubber mallet to tap them home. I tried this but they’re so tight that a very firm tap (actually, lots of taps) is needed, at which point the end caps splinter around the edges because the plastic is cheap and brittle. Ok, it now fits together, and works, and the broken plastic bits don’t show, but that’s not the point. Park Tools make a fantastic range of bike tools, but are they really TOP quality? I suggest not. For £50 this piece of plastic should be perfect.

Great addition to the TS2
Yes you can use the TS2 without this but it really is missing something without it.Gives it a base and a stability that is lacking with only the stand. The tool pockets aren't perfect and there is no place for a spoke tension tool but hey.More annoying is when Park haven't included all the bolts and tell you to send it back, because "overseas" is too much inconvenience to ship £2 of bolts and it easier for them to disown the environmental impact of 3 shipments.

does the job
A valuable and necessry but pricey addtion to the truing stand. The stand itself needs to be in a vice or bolted/screwed to a bench without the base to keep it stable. The base therefore makes the whole setup stable, but in my opinion it should be included with the stand which is an expensive piece of kit to start with.Other than that I would have given it five stars.

Bent Base
When you’re paying 40 odd quid for some plastic and a bolt, you don’t expect half of it to be bent wildly out of shape! Fortunately it’s the base and after it’s assembled with the stand fitted you won’t see it, but it’s still well shoddy. Stand hasn’t arrived yet, better be up to snuff like or I’ll be kicking off! Naa what a mean like!?!

Great base, poor quality of items included!
Received today, to find one broken insert piece, a missing washer and a tightening knob that was the wrong size for the bolt! Someone at Park Tools has had a bad day I think!!
