I ordered some of these on Etsy, they never showed so I finally found some decent looking ones in the exact size here. The Etsy ones were like $12 for 5, for the same size, to be clear.I was surprised, because I wanted REAL abalone shell buttons, and it said these were plastic? They indeed ARE real shell (not abalone likely due to the price alone).SUPER strong - to determine if they were plastic I attempted to break them, i wound up having to put the needle through the hole of the button and REALLY crank on it, as shears or anything else wasn't working haha.The concern I saw about "chipping" or the "coating" coming off - bruh - it's a shell... Literally is nature there, and it's almost like tree bark - the underneath doesn't look bad at all. Perhaps over multiple washes the outside will all come off, but I wanted these for the luminus interior anyways, it's a very nice - more white-ish clam like surface - some color but mostly white.Lastly, they are quite thick, again don't feel like they will break on me, and the holes all seem to be very uniform. For this price, 100pcs, i'm sure i'll run out of things to put them on before anything haha.

These natural buttons are very pretty. However, many of them are quite thin and would not hold up to the wear and tear of use on a garment or in a clothes dryer. I actually purchased them to use in a craft. The thin ones are fine for sewing on something non-clothing and that is what I did with the thinner ones. I had to pick through all of them to find the thicker ones to string on a wire heart wreath. A few of the thinner ones broke while trying to pull the wire through them to make the wreath. They are a good value if you can find a non- clothing use for the thin ones which are a high percentage of the overall amount of buttons. They are pretty but a lot of them are just too fragile.

Very good button amount for price (less than 10cents each). Sizing consistent in package and reasonable thickness (thin ones resemble dime thinness, some can be a bit thicker). Worth noting is that some button backs are a bit uneven (first photo, upper left is the worst one I can find in the package) and may have some of that exterior shell flaked off (second photo). The mother of pearl, iridescent front is intact. Also noticed one button missing a buttonhole (I think it’s in the second photo, close to bottom right), but it has an indent mark there. Worst case, I try to poke out the hole and it breaks. None of these are dealbreakers to me because of the price performance and the natural anatomy of seashells. (I imagine you can sand then seal the back side if you so desire.) They aren’t made so thin that they can crumble by touch.

Exactly as pictured and described. Great value for money if you need a bunch.

Perfect thickness and consistent color tones-none too light or too dark compared to others in the package. Beautiful shimmer!

I thought that because there were several sizes that the order would would containa mix of the different sizes not just one size.

You will lose a few of these due to breakages in the post, they are a bit on the thin side so buy them for delecate applications
