Bal A Versailles Perfume For Her Eau De Toilette 3.4 oz Spray

The EDT smells better than the perfume. The perfume is described as skanky, sort of dirty. To me, it also smells like like cough medicine because of the strong herbs in it. The EDT lacks these odors and has a lighter smell. Very sweet, like honey, but dries down to a more pleasant powdery scent. The EDT lasts for a few hours on my skin. It is not heavy but is a bit cloying. I prefer scents that are more floral and contain iris. Iris is fresh and a bit sharp and so is often softened with other floral and vanilla to make the scent pretty, like Prada Iris. Bal a Versailles has so many íngredients that when they are mixed all together the perfume has no hint of any of the Musk or the florals because the pine, eucalyptus, lemon,lime,rosemary,simply overpower them and give it a cough medicine vibe. I don't see how so many of the reviewers on Fragrantica can smell any of the more lovely scents in the EDP. They must have much better noses than mine to be able to pick any of them up. The civet adds a dirty smell, and why anyone likes this horse dung odor in a perfume is beyond me. Some call it skanky and sexy, but to each his own. I think I will stick to Prada Iris, or even Caleche which came out around the same time as Bal and is a really beautiful fragrance with no horse dung in it at all!
