The sides are not balanced and the build is not made for hitting a hard surface. This peice is neither for beginners to practice the fundamentals and tricks and nor for real fighting (if for some reason you are buying this for) as this nunchaku is not comfortable. That being said this is just an collectors item which doesn't really have real application.
