Great Improvements on a Dremel
The inclusion of the shaft clutch for quick bit changes is a GREAT addition to this already very versatile tool. The case included was a GREAT addition as well! I removed the foam upper insert so I could store my Dremel with a Chuck on it,in the same case. I use these tools in my Eng work, every single day it seems.I also use the Dremel Saw Max. Another really cool tool (ment methodanother story)This unit has good bearings, great speed control, adequate hoursepower, and a LOT of diverse functions! The inclusion of the right angle drive, and the flex shaft drive, make this kit WAAY COOL.I use the Metal cutting discs on the quick change bits as I do a LOT of metal work. Those are I think, the best disc attachmentsystems around!I've been using Dremels for decades. They support their products very well in: bit design, availability, good materials and design practices as well. I FAR prefer the variable speed models. The single speed units are fairly worthless IMO.The var. speed Dremel is capable of so many tasks, limiting your motor to a one speed unit, is self defeating. The case is well built and sturdy. Now I have a rather complete set, ready for about anything you can throw at me!I even cut off the rusted control arm on my Saturn a few years ago, using only my Dremel and metal cutting discs. It took awhile, but handled it EASILY!Dremel ROCKS IMO.

Almost 5 years after the 4200 has come out - their defect has still yet to be fixed! Only got 1 hour of use!
I should comment on more things that I buy - most are great products. This one? Not so much. I purchased because the overall kit comes with all the extra attachments and I wanted all the attachments up front - this is the ONLY FULL KIT I can find. It happens to be corded - that's fine. It seemed great - 4.5 stars. But note - THIS PRODUCT HAS A DEFECT SINCE 2012 POSSIBLY EVEN 2009 AND IT STILL IS NOT FIXED. WHY IS THIS PRODUCT MANUFACTURED AT ALL?If a Dremel rep would like to contact me and tell me all the hidden secrets of their products I would love to know - and show me the way to the nice Dremel kit that has an actual working rotary engine that does not need literal kick-starting... thanks :)FYI I'm a huge brand/quality person. This was a test purchase to see if I was going to start investing all my money in a nice DREMEL set up (Was going into the 3D printer as well) but now i'm super nervous after this purchase.LINK TO DEFECT EXAMPLE:-- [...] -- this shows the product issue. It worked for 1 hour and then after that I couldn't turn it on. Looked through the directions... thought I might have missed something/stuck something somehow. But no - I have to turn it on then press HARD right about the speed control (Noted in fixit link) to make it turn on. Sometimes I have to jiggle it a little more. For me to purchase this product for over $200 in 2016 and it's been known since 2012 to have this issue I cannot start to fathom how disappointed in DREMEL I am. This was the first purchase with DREMEL because of it's name brand and it's supposed quality - but to have a defect in a product and not re-engineer it by now almost 10 years later!?!?!?!?!?!? Dremel, for shame.

Super awsome super Dremel!
This is such an amazing tool that I had to have it! It works very well. The shanks are much easier to install and it makes work much quicker. I like how much air gets moved, it cooled my face off while I worked. The grips are just excellent. And all the attachments forced me to just stare in adoration. The case is strong and fully foam padded on the interior. And it comes with the oh-so-popular flex shaft attachment. I am very pleased with this purchase, and I would recomend this to all those aspiring inventors out there that need a tool that gets every job done and that lasts. Dremel has truly make an outstanding piece of machinery and rotary magnificence!

Spunky, quick changer is worth my while and perhaps your's too.
This particular Dremel 4200 Platinum Collection is quite good. It is powerful, useful and versatile. It comes with a slew of attachments and various tips, cutters, etcetera. The quick change option is very helpful depending on how you use it and with which attachment. It can be difficult as well because the release has to be to activated to put in or remove any accessory. Certain accessories can be tricky to use with this but overall I am very pleased with it's power and versatility. I believe it to be a worthy purchase. I have included a couple of digital images from some of the packaging for reference.

Missing two low speeds?
For my uses I love this model. I had to do a lot of reading, to figure out all the possible compatibly issues with some of the older accessories, but in the end it seems depending on adapters etc. you can most if not all of them.I do however have a question for any 4200 owners, if you happen to come back to this review thread:The variable speed setting starts at 5 = 5000 rpm. On my unit the first TWO clicks up in speed do NOT appear, (this by listening to the sound of the too)l, to be any faster then the minimal 5K setting. Only when I reach the THIRD click on the dial (corresponds to a notch beyond the 10K mark), can I hear a difference.I also tried the same SOUND TEST, with the Mini-Saw attached, since with it's off access drive shaft, that attachment is very loud and noisy, and in effect amplifies the sounds when changing speeds. Same results, no noticeable difference in the two low speeds I seem to NOT hear.Anyone experience this? I could always return it, but other then this, the unit and motor seem fine. Thanks!
