Review: Excellent paint, very good coverage and adheres really well ... - Excellent paint, very good coverage and adheres really well to all surfaces. Metal surfaces will need a bit of sanding/priming before application else the paint will peel off. Quick drying and a nice matte, metallic finish. If you goof up while painting, the paint can be easily wiped off using nail polish remover. Expensive compared to competitors, but good product overall. Review: Three Stars - Good product but expected the colour to be slightly darker.

Amazing color. Easy to apply
This would have to be the best spray paint I’ve ever used. Easy to apply. The color is amazing. Lots of metallic.

Loved it… looks discontinued
Bought this to restore a military trailer. Bought approximately 8 cans so obviously I liked the color. This odd looking cap/nozzle sprays a decent Fan pattern (like) but for some reason 90% off the cans kinda leaked at the nozzle and ran down my hand on the van. Good result but quite messy and wasteful. I decided to use “rattle can” instead of trying to do a more professional sprayer because I thought it would be much easier too fix in the event of scratching etc. etc. Just run down to Wall-Mart or Lowe’s and grab a can badda bing badda boom all good right? WRONG ! ! ! I ran a little short so I just thought I will kick out to Amazon, look up my old order, and buy a can… heck won’t hurt to keep one on hand so I’ll get two. Only cost like $8/can right? WRONG ! ! ! Apparently Rustoleum has discontinued this color. Price on Amazon is more than $30/CAN ! ! I searched Around other places hoping to find a couple of straggler cans… no luck. I decided to see how close I could get in any other product line and/or brand. If you are like me and find yourself in a panic and found this review using the color match search… I used Krylon “Metallic Dark Metal”. Caps don’t look the same but most of that is texture of the plastic I think. The finish might be a bit more glossy than the “soft iron”. I had planned on fixing that potential problem with a light coat of matte clear but in the end I didn’t see, at least in my application, that the difference was noticeable enough to spend the extra time and/or money. That matte clear by Rustoleum sells on Amazon currently for around $4.50/can

Beautiful color, but the can is a mess
I've used Rust-Oleum metallic spray in other colors with different can designs with so much more luck. The trigger design sprays very wide and spills out a lot of paint over your hand and anything below you. Spraying one photo frame made such a mess that it consumed almost a third of the can. The color is beautiful, but I really wish this came in a more traditional and easier to control can.

Great outcome!
I have had my weight plates for about 12 years, and they started to really rust (due to it being outside weathering the storm for years). Since covid, weight plates are either sold out or sold in the price range of a liver and spleen. I was in the market for some weight plates, but didn't want to spend so much money on it. Looked on reddit and saw posts that people were painting their old weight set. Decided I'll do the same, this paint came out really well. I've already worked out with the plates, and the paint is still holding strong. I love the color, it's a charcoal metallic. If you're repainting your weights, remove or treat the rust first and prepare the weights for paint! Good luck.

A find
I never spray painted anything that didn't look worse after than before (until now). I purchased the Rust-Oleum metallic soft iron to rescue (er..attempt to rescue) an add-on trim strip that sits smack dab on front of my car. I had damaged the strip then made it worse on attempting to melt and blend the plastic (using a heat gun). So now the trim is discolored in the spot I played with and looks bad. I tried this paint cause it was so inexpensive and close to a match. Removed the trim piece and set it on a piece of cardboard in the back yard, sprayed back and forth quickly, and voila. One coat and the piece looks better than it did brand new . It transformed the damaged cheap-to-begin-with matte black plastic compound into a nice much-more-expensive looking integral part of my car grill. The color isn't black but plays perfectly off the car trim.
