How many cans does it take to do five rims, inside and outside of rim?

I was able to paint the outsides of 4, 17" rims and the center caps with 2-3 coats, with less than 4 cans. The trouble I had is that the paint really needs to bake so that the surface will harden. The appearance was great, but didn't last. I think if I had the ability to bake the paint, it would still look great and last the elements.

can you spay paint it while the wheel is still on the car ?

I don't recommend it but you can. Just make sure you protect your car from over spray

Can this be used for wood? (I'm trying to spray paint my skateboard deck and I need a clear coat so the paint doesn't come off)

I use this on my dump truck metal sides. It also stays very well on my wood sideboards too. I just give it 2 or 3 coats and let it soak in.

I know it says steel, but will this match my bikes brushed (universal) aluminum color I need? Painting the lower forks

Three (3) choices: Try it, call the paint mfg, or hope that someone who bought and used it is nice enough and smart enough to describe the precise color and finish to you. I bought it just a couple of hours ago and so unfortunately cannot do it, at least not yet. Only people who've bought it are allowed to answer these questions.

Not as thick as a clear coat should be

I applied this clear coat to a newly painted rim and had to apply multiple coats to get the smooth shiny look like the OEM paint on the other rims. Basically, 1 can per wheel. I am really disappointed that Rust-Oleum has gotten that bad.
