Use any combination of halved slices of onion, snap green beans, chayote, Julienne carrot rounds, bok choy, Brussels sprouts, or Napa cabbage (also known as Chinese, Asian, or "skunk" cabbage). Serve piping hot with a side of quinoa or steamed rice for a delectable, healthy meal! When tightly wrapped after opening, Happy Panda Tamarind Paste will keep nicely at room temperature in your cupboard or spice drawer.

Nice thick paste, smooth and tart. A perfect addition for Asian dishes.

There are pits left in it, but if you don't mind that, it tastes very good!

Glad I didn’t listen to the negative reviews. The biggest complaint I read was that there were seeds in the paste. There are not, in fact, seeds, but rather the hull and fibers from around the seeds. So yes, it does take a bit of preparation to get this ready for use. luckily, it’s super easy! To prepare for use: Cut 1/4 or 1/2 of this block, tear into small chunks, and soak in 1 to 2 cups of hot water for about 10 minutes. After the water has cooled, Stir the paste with a spoon or your hands to loosen from the hull. Strain The liquid, and dispose of the leftover fibers. The liquid is what you want to cook with. The remaining block can be refrigerated for several months in an airtight container.

I like homemade pad thai, so this tamarind paste is what I've been buying. I have purchased multiple times at this point because the flavor is good and price is just right.

I use this to make Tamarind use and it works extremely well. The tiny little bit of salt that it has curves the sourness and with a little bit of honey or sugar it turns into a delicious sour juice which is extremely refreshing.
